Hotel Kria was a perfect place to stay on the southern coast of Iceland. It was a cozy and welcoming environment with very nice room accommodations. The location was perfect for exploring Thorsmork, walking along the black sand beaches, and served as our home base for exploring Skaftafell national park and the glacier lagoons. There was no staff available for check in -- you have to call using a phone in the lobby to find out your room and code to get the key. Hotel was clean and a light breakfast of yogurt, toast, meat, cheese, cereal, and fruit was available with coffee in the morning.
Absolutely stunning room and breakfast at the hotel across the parking lot was a bonus. The property is on the main road in town so the view is just OK but the location is unbeatable and it was very quiet at night. Only complaint was the lights... numerous switches and its not clear what controls what. And the fireplace ran out of fuel but we didnt contact anyone as we were only there for 2 nights. Wish we couldve stayed longer!
This is one of those hotels that you will want to stay forever. The location is unique, where you will have not matter which room an amazing view. I think the mountains views are the best! The service always impeccable. Rooms are spacious, not too much closets tho, but very modern. Breakfast was the best!!! Our stay here was very good. Great breakfast. No real issues but be aware the Expedia listing says black sand beach is a 1 minute walk but was actually a 10-15 minute drive.
The pictures make it out to be a lot more rustic than it really is. The cottages are actually very neat and polished. If you have an irrational fear of sheep, you won't like it here. Super easy to check in. Beautiful view outside. We sat outside our first night just to view all the amazing stars! Great location! Right next to the town for restaurants and also near the attractions we came for. All amenities were here. I would definitely recommend this place.
Great little guesthouse with 7 or so rooms. Very nice and clean bathrooms (3, with toilet/sink/shower each) and main kitchen area. Best for couples or two good friends. Beds are bunked.
This place is super nice and modern, very clean and nice facilities. There is also a bar offering food (pizza, wings, etc) for relatively cheap compared to the rest of iceland. The place is right by reynesfjara beach so it is a perfect location close to vik. Loved it here.
We absolutely LOVED staying here! These cabins were so much fun to stay in, surrounded by the gorgeous scenery of Iceland. The cabin was clean, quiet, and full of amenities. I would recommend picking up groceries beforehand and cooking here. We wished we could have stayed here a few extra nights! The only downside was the lock on our cabin- it was very difficult to open upon initial entry.
My husband, daughter (20), and I stayed at The Garage for 2 nights (April 30-May 2). This is one of my favorite places we have ever stayed! If you plan to stay overnight in south Iceland do not miss this gem. The location is close to all the sights and activities, but the Garage is so comfortable and charming you might not want to leave the property! Cool decor and design, large and comfortable room, great amenities, and a wonderful family that owns/operates the Garage makes this a unique spot....
