Learn more about Portree
A harbor of candy-colored houses greets visitors to this Isle of Skye gem, where fishing boats bob alongside seagulls performing aerial acrobatics. The bustling Somerled Square offers pubs where locals might share tales of Bonnie Prince Charlie's escape over a peaty whisky. Beyond town, the Old Man of Storr's jagged rock formation stands like nature's sculpture garden against moody skies. The Aros Centre celebrates Gaelic heritage with performances that might have you attempting tongue-twisting phrases by evening. For the ultimate Skye experience, hike the Quiraing's otherworldly landscape, where each foggy hollow seems to hide a fairy tale creature just out of sight.

Bracken Hide Hotel
"Such a unique place, each place has a sense of seclusion. The on site restaurant was fabulous! My only request would be for a better mattress."
The Skye Inn
"Great breakfast and comfortable rooms. Road in needs work."
Tongadale Hotel
"Everything was good except the door. The door was not anti slam. Each time a neighbour went in and out, the door was slammed order to close, woke me up a few of times, otherwise everything was good. Thanks."
Larchside Guest House
"The guesthouse is situated just outside of Portree in a beautiful small village. It is a brand new establishment, has four rooms out of them only 2 are operational, it is spotlessly clean with the most comfortable beds and bed linens. The host is very friendly and helpful but also gives lots of space and there is a total separation between their house and the guests area. Continental Breakfast is complete with all we needed. The price was best value for money for August in Skye. Highly recommend."
Kings Arms Hotel
"We had 2 rooms booked here. The staff was friendly, the place is very cozy with a beautiful water facing property. We did not get a chance to eat lunch or dinner at the restaurant, but the breakfast had a lot of variety and was great! The rooms were clean, beds were comfortable. We stayed here 2 nights to explore Skye! I highly recommend Kings arms!"
Cuillin Hills Hotel
"Great place"
Portree Youth Hostel
"This is a great, low-budget option that is family-friendly, clean, and quiet. Staff were all super friendly. The hostel is centrally located and across the street from a large, inexpensive car park. Everything in Portree is a short walking distance away. We stayed in a private room for 2 nights. The bathroom and shower are small and the water pressure is suitable for an elephant, which is great, but the shower head would not stay put and the pole it was attached to kept falling off, which we simply laughed about. I assume anyone expecting absolute perfection would look for a much more expensive hotel option. We were quite happy with the hostel and would definitely recommend it to others. Thank-you!"
