"Overall we had a lovely stay. Only complaint was that we were cold in the evenings…it was less than 10° outside and the bar had air-conditioning on! We got really cold. The restaurant was also cold, so we only ate there the first night. The food was good, spoilt only by my poached eggs being cool the first day, and when I asked for them to be hot the second morning, they were only just warm! Otherwise a lovely breakfast. Shower very good, and plenty of hot water for baths to warm us up!"

"Lovely hotel, one downside was the mattress/pillows. Too soft. Ended up sleeping on the sofa bed as it was comfier. "

"While the hotel itself was good the experience with the staff was awful. We had 10 rooms and many, many issues over 3 days that could/should have been easily avoided. A lack of good CX skills, empathy and willingness to address simple things made for a very poor experience. I would not recommend this hotel unfortunately."

"We stayed for one night. We were attending a wedding close by and don’t live locally. We needed a bed for the night that was inexpensive, had a good check in time and included breakfast. This hotel ticked all those boxes.We checked-in at 2pm, which is rare for hotels now. Hotel staff were friendly and helpful. We received a personal and lovely welcome with a very swift check-in. The hotel decor is tired and rooms are dated but everything was clean. Beds are comfortable but the pillows were thin and not pleasant to sleep on. We had a TV, a decent shower, (not luxurious but it was hot and powerful), room to put our things and tea/coffee amenities. No aircon but we could open the window. Next morning we had a delicious English breakfast. I have stayed in a lot of 5 star hotels and not all of them have put an English breakfast in front of me as spot on as the Russell Hotel did. It was perfect and delicious! If I find myself in Tunbridge Wells in need of a bed for the night I would stay here without question. Lovely welcome, friendly & helpful staff with a great English breakfast in the morning. What more do you need?! The hotel was in a good location too and had some free parking. A thumbs up from my husband and me!"

"The air conditioning was rarely turned on and the room was hot and stuffy. No control of air colnd from the room unit. Order the vegetable soup for 6 pounds. Was watered down freeze dried 'cup-a-soup'. Bloody awful. Was refused a hot steak sandwich at 7.20pm and told by staff not available after 6pm as per the menu. Nowhere on the menu is this stated. (THEN ODERED THE SOUP INSTEAD) Constant noise of thumping feet and furnuture being dragged accross the floor up to 11pm at night from the floor above us. Rang reception to complain at 10pm but nothing changed. I could not recommend this hotel dispite staff bring friendly."
