I suspect that it’s not tourist season yet and there’s no reason to open up the town-it’s still cool and rainy. Not much going on but really fine for our needs. Hotel is clean and modest. Staff is excellent.
This was the second hotel in a small village we stayed in (other was in Azay-le-Rideau), and I absolutely loved this one, too. This charming hotel in a 1700's home was at the top of the hill, a block down from the Basilica. The hotel was located right in the beautiful town of Avallon, walking to everything. The staff was very kind and accommodating. The room and hotel was beautiful and comfortable. we were in France for three weeks and this was one of our favorite towns and hotels, and the restaurant was the best meal we had during our entire trip! Jola, at the front desk, was especially sweet and helpful, and made our stay even more enjoyable. I highly recommend staying here,
Quiet and well run budget hotel. Beds could have been a bit more comfortable but the great breakfast made up for the hard bed. Would consider staying again when back in the area.
