- if you like a coffee after breakfast the charges are extremely high (you get it from the same machine where you get your morning coffee for free)
- charges in general for drinks are very high
- they don't take American Express
The hotel is a classic German hotel of its type and age. It has been very well maintained and is being managed very well by its current owners. Highly recommend it to anyone...
We were so happy that we chose this hotel. The rooms are very nice, our view was spectacular. Breakfast was substantial and fueled us until mid afternoon. Beautiful outdoor dining but make a reservation. Ettal is a charming town and close to many attractions.
We originally booked and payed for an apartment but due to maintenance issues, the hotel substituted the apartment for two individual rooms sharing a balcony and threw in a complimentary breakfast. Breakfast had a good range of choices and nice surroundings, but service had much to be desired since we waited 15 minutes for someone to come wipe down the table we were going to sit at even though we brought it to the attention of front desk several times. Andreas(?) at front desk was great. Answered lots of questions for us. Made great recommendations for restaurants and the Alpaca farm. Girl who helped us at breakfast was also very nice. Very convenient location. Only wish it had air conditioning since we were there is record heat. Very nice comforters.. Shower was very good also.
Great location. We had a large terrace with amazing views of the castle and mountains. Rooms were large with ample space. Hotel offered two restaurants and a complimentary breakfast each day. Also offered free parking.
We enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Hirsch overall and would consider staying there again if we were going to be in the area. The front of the building reminds me of something out of a Wes Anderson film, and the inside is equally cute and comfortable with an updated, yet traditional Bavarian feel. Our room had wood flooring and a rug, which is something I don't often see in hotels! Dinner at the hotel restaurant was an enjoyable experience as well.

Our stay at the Alpine Sacher Resort was absolutely incredible from beginning to end. The resort is so quaint and charming, with the most beautiful Bavarian feel that made everything feel warm, cozy, and luxurious all at once.

This hotel was hard to find. Located in the center of the city (photo looks like a different location). Google maps took us to another location. Go through their website to get directions! Staff here is GREAT!!! Friendly, helpful, and just nice people. Room was nice and very clean! Breakfast was excellent.
Hotel Waldman is a jewel. This wonderfully charming family run hotel and restaurant is gorgeously surrounded by picturesque Bavarian country side and snow capped mountains. The food is just as spectacular as the views, and their hospitality makes this enchanted place feel as much like home as it does a fairy tale. Thanks for being such wonderful hosts....we'll definitely be back!
Amazing view from our balcony! Staff very helpful. Beds okay. Walking distance to Lake Eibsee (~2.5 miles via trails) if you enjoy walking (also to the lift to go up Zugspitze). Driving distance to Garmisch-Partenkirchen for more reasonably priced food. Breakfast very good and worth the extra 15 Euros. Enjoy!
Great hotel...great location....friendly and helpful staff for the most part. There was one guy who clearly had an issue with Americans....gave him a 20% Euro tip (which is way more then Europeans leave) and he was still a %^$*&.
Great area to bike, hike and relax at the Thermal Pool within walking distance of the hotel and sits in the valley of the Austrian Alps. Soooo beautiful.
