This is my 16th trip to Germany. The Torfhaus Resort rates as one of the best experiences that I have ever had. The location is perfect for hiking, biking, sightseeing or just relaxing. It is in the forest, but close to Altenau, Braunlage and other larger communities. The cottages are in excellent shape with the most modern appliances. Staff is very professional and always on duty. This is a great hotel for a family vacation! Lots to do in the area and there is a buffet for breakfast and dinner in the hotel. Our room was very clean and spacious. The front desk staff was very friendly when we checked in.

First off: The staff was phenomenal! From the front desk, to the restaurant (thanks for preparing my complimentary Tiramisu at 10:45pm!), to the cleaning crew, they were all amazing. The hotel has the best location given that is is right on the Markplatz. Easy walk to explore the town. Added bonus is the parking onsite for 10 Euros a day. It’s nice, comfortable, friendly and well functioning hotel.

A very nice hotel very different (in a very good way) in relation to the other hotels in the area. It is modern, a nice breakfast and dinner option available in the hotel and in the village are very good restaurant.
