We only had two nights at Rio Perdido but they were amazing. From the moment we walked in and were welcomed with the most delicious passion fruit welcome drink till the moment we checked out with the friendly folk at reception, we felt warmly received and graciously cared for. Steven greeted us as we entered - he was very attentive and warm as he told us about the hotel and its various offerings.
The hotel itself is gorgeous - the spacious round lobby/restaurant has nearly 360 degree open-air...
We had a fantastic time! Orlando (the owner), his family, and all of the staff were so kind and welcoming! We really enjoyed the thermal longevity circuit, plus we went tubing down the river which was a blast too! On day 2 we did the cultural coffee, chocolate, tortilla demonstration and we also went on a short hike through the trail where Orlando helped us spot a sloth! We had the pizza at the resort the first night, so then we wanted to try out some authentic Costa Rican and he was able to...
This was a gem of a find. Joel the owner was on top of every detail of your stay. The meals prepared were exquisite. Family style tables that allowed you to meet other travelers and exchange past places visited and or give ideas of where to go next. Birds eye view of the beautiful garden where you could watch birds for hours. I would go back in a heartbeat.
Excellent stayall around! The family who maintains the place was very friendly and a joy to talk to. It was a perfect way to spend our first evening in Costa Rica! Breakfast was delicious!
Casita Tenorio is in a section of Costa Rica that feels like the old Costa Rica use to be. The people are friendly and it’s not over developed. We had a family of 5 howler monkeys greet us in the trees next to our casita. It was wonderful. Casita Tenorio is a nice quiet place to unwind and enjoy nature. I highly recommend this property.
The setting is breathtaking, with the volcanoes and rain forests surrounding you and gorgeous wildlife throughout. The hosts Ana and Pablo are incredible warm caring people who have unmatched hospitality. The tour of the chocolate plantation is a must - samples were delicious. Eat the food they prepare; it is fresh, tasty, and they can accommodate vegetarians. Most guests had rented a car because getting there requires some smaller gravel roads through tiny towns. The facilities are done with...
This was such a great place to stay! The views were awesome, it was very quiet and peaceful, and it was very unique to stay in a dome. We saw so many hummingbirds and butterflies. The caretakers were the most helpful, friendly, generous people. They went out of their way to help us with anything we needed and they also had a cute friendly dog that greeted us. Just a few minutes away there were a couple restaurants to eat at and it was a 5 minute car ride to Rio Celeste. Highly recommend this...
If you are looking to decompress, enjoy the natural beauty of a massive estate, and breath clean air - this place is the best!!! Jorge, the owner is a veteran of the tourism industry and is extremely knowledgeable about geography, history, pretty much everything Tico. The property has a few pools, a hiking trail, a water slide, horseback riding, zip lining, a jacuzzi, and more. Bring a yoga mat and a bathing suit.
This hotel exceeded my expectations in every way. I loved the upgraded superior room we stayed in. The room had everything we could ask for-- a private yard with hammock, room safe, espresso machine, tv, ice-cold a/c, wonderful smelling hand soap, lotion, shampoo, and conditioner, blow dryer, hand mirror, closet with hangers, bedside reading lamps, and stocked refridge. Anytime we called the front desk for something, the staff attended to our needs in record time. I fell and scraped my knee...
This place was fantastic! We wanted a more off the beaten path, authentic experience and this was perfect. The staff spoke only Spanish which we so enjoyed. We don’t speak Spanish well (ok hardly at all) but with Google translate and gesturing, no problem at all.
There is a wonderful 1.5 mile (one way, 3 mile out and back) hike to a waterfall view right from their property! We saw lizards and frogs and I’m sure you could see other wildlife.
Breakfast was great and we watched beautiful birds the...
This hotel and adjacent national park was the highlight of our 12 day trip through CR.
GROUNDS: The hotel is magnificent, with individual bungalows surrounding the central lobby/restaurant and pool. The tropical landscaping is gorgeous and dense enough to isolate each of the bungalows, affording privacy, even when sitting in the covered front porch. The ¾ kilometer trail down to the Rio Celeste on their property provides a great 15-20 minute hike to the river’s edge, where you may choose to...
The nicest people and wonderful hosts. I mentioned that we would be celebrating our daughter’s bday while we were there and they knocked on the door with a huge slice of chocolate cake and a candle and sang Feliz cumpleanos. It was the sweetest thing and so special for our family. It was such a kind gesture and it set the tone for the rest of our time there. Breakfast was a lovely production. We entered the dining room and they just started bringing out entree after entree, fruit, eggs, gallo...
We had a great stay at Borinquen. The facility is fabulous - set on 6,000 acres adjacent to Rincon La Vieja National Park. It is "into the wild" with getting there requiring you to drive on a rocky, dirt road about 12 miles off the highway.
The grounds of the hotel were pristine. We saw lots of monkeys, toucans and other wildlife right outside our room. They have a big pool, hot springs and mud baths we all enjoyed. We stayed in a standard room the 1st night and then the JR Suites the...
