If you want to stretch your legs and breathe in some fresh mountain air, head out to Scafell Pike for a bird's-eye view of Eskdale. Eskdale has other popular natural features you might want to visit such as Lake Windermere.

Keswick Country House Hotel
10/10 Excellent
"A long established traditional hotel. The refurb of rooms and lounges is going very well and making it so homely and comfortable, especially considering the age and size of the Hotel.
Our room was very good, breakfast excellent ( best hotel porridge), several small lounges make it a relaxing place to stay and spend time in during the day. Very reasonable price.
Def superior hotel when compared to a national chain hotel nearby."
"Although the property was being externally renovated it did not detract from the feeling of being looked after, the staff were very polite and pleasant and nothing was too much trouble. "
"This place was a dream. The staff was friendly and helpful. The location is right across the street from Dove Cottage and a short walk into Grasmere to see Wordsworth's grave. There is also a convenient bus stop right across the street if you are traveling without a car. The location is stunning; even a view of the car park provided beautiful views of the surrounding mountains. The hiking path around Grasmere Lake was one of the most beautiful trails I've ever hiked. We stopped in Keswick and Windermere as well, and highly preferred the quiet location in Grasmere. The hotel provides excellent food, so you don't have to leave, although there is a great cafe and pub a short walk away. The property was clean, the bed was comfortable, the location was quiet, and the breakfast room was gorgeous! Not a bad view in any room in the place. Absolutely loved this place and plan on returning. Thanks for the remarkable stay!"
"We stayed for a weekend at The Ro hotel and had a lovely time. The staff are all friendly and work so hard. The hotel it's self is slightly dated in some areas but that adds to it's charm. We also used the wellness centre and would definitely recommend it. It's really clean and modern with lots to offer.
The hotel is is really central to windermere, we were able to walk everywhere easily. We'd definitely stay here again."
