I was looking for a hotel to stay in for 2 days that was between Rome and Florence. Montepuliano was perfect. This turned out to be a fabulous choice. It is up on a hill with beautiful views and even though it is in the country, our GPS took us right there. Our jr suites were perfect for a Mom and one kid and two other young adult kids. Our stay at Podere La Rocca was fabulous! The property is located in the rolling Tuscan hills just outside Montepulciano. The property is a working farm and vineyard with an onsite restaurant and pool. Our room was comfortable and clean. The bathroom was huge with a new jetted tub. We stayed on the second floor in a building with a large communal room with a fireplace. On the first floor of the same building was a rec room with a pool table. Pro: gorgeous and spacious property, we were upgraded to a junior suite that was lovely, attentive staff, and incredible amenities. Pool was wonderful for tired bodies. Con: very few. The restaurant on site has pretty limited menu, toilet in room kept running all night long- informed staff on checkout (as it was troublesome to flush, and wasting water), fridge in room- housed in a cabinet that I feel caused it to overheat… and therefore was not very powerful enough to keep drinks cold. It was wonderful. The house is in beautiful country and is furnished and decorated to be very homey. The scenery is outstanding. Tuscany is beautiful in September. Simonetta is the owner and proprietor and by the end of our week's stay, she felt like family. There is a delicious breakfast each morning at which other boarder's may be present. A highlight of the stay was a cooking class with Simonetta in which we made a mult-course meal including pasta from scratch in her kitchen.
