the breakfast was great. the pool was a nice way to relax at the end of a long travel day.
the staff was terrific. the grounds were a delight. flowers, birds, and butterflies everywhere.
however, just an fyi: to those susceptible, like me there are pretty bad mosquitos. especially on the river walk. my wife noticed at the end of our stay that there is mosquito repellent at the desk.
Beautiful property right on the river. There are so many beautiful birds and gardens. A sloth hug out in the tree right outside the door. It was never more than 6 meters above the ground. Great closeup interaction. Just after midday a group of 30 plus monkeys slowly passed thru the trees on the riverbank. The host prepared dinner and breakfast and it was delicious. Beautiful room, beautiful grounds, fun trails to navigate on the property, delicious food, fun pool, good drinks. Altogether, an almost perfect trip! Note: the only way to access tortuguero town is via another boat. It looks like they can pick you up at La Pavona so you can go straight there and avoid the public boat everyone else uses. Just email them and find out - something we were unaware of. Also, the wins at the front desk attempted to charge us twice for the room. I had already paid...
What a unique experience! The room included breakfast and a ~2 hour guided tour of the reserve. The rooms (with bunk beds) and the food/dining hall were bare bones, think summer camp vibes, but a summer camp where you are awakened by howler monkeys and tucans. Recommended!
The property is in good condition. The room was good, big enough. The location is excellent. They helped set up our tours and we had an excellent time. Everything is super close. Their dock is nice and relaxing. We were able to get some beautiful sunset pictures. The breakfast was very good! We would definitely recommend it!
The rooms were clean, the food was very good, the staff was amazing! Our guide on the excursions was an official guide set up by the hotel. His name is Jairo and he was amazing. We csnnot say enough about how good he was. Fluent english and Spanish and his knowledge and expertise was astounding!
We loved the friendly staff that encouraged us to try our Spanish. Breakfast was plentiful and tasty. Wifi was good. Showers were lukewarm. Tortuguero is a small village with 1500 people some dogs and no cars. Lots of small restaurants and hotels.The beds had dips on one side, but we slept on the other side and they were great.We used Exploradores for our transfer from San Jose. It included breakfast. A guide and the 90 minute boat ride to the village. Great service.

Excellent value for the price. Family-owned. Nice spot at the end of the (only) road in town, facing onto the canal in front and the ocean in back. More homey than high-end. No a/c but with the fan on and the screened window our ocean-facing room stayed cool enough. Breakfast was good. Staff was friendly and we were able to coordinate both canoe trip and turtle watch right from there.
Very great food and kind staff. Hotel is about a 15 minute walk from the town which is very nice. Being at this hotel makes you feel like like you’re in a little resort.
Loved the attention we received from it’s staff Sofie, Chef Nayomi, Ivana and Cooper. The room was lovely and very comfortable bed. Cooper was very helpful with the transportation. Not happy about not knowing the travel time was not included in the description. It takes 3-4 hrs from airport then 1 hour boat ride to get to the hotel. Even though it’s all inclusive they didn’t serve alcoholic beverages only wine. Would have loved some mojitos, piba colado or margaritas. Also no tv in the room.
