Beautiful property, free tea tasting, and very wonderful host. Host was a pleasure to talk to and was always available for any assistance we needed. Had great recommendations for food and hikes nearby. He also took the time to show us his family’s tea farm only 2 minutes away. The views were incredible. The hotel was spotlessly, clean, the pool and hot tub on the rooftop were wonderful, particularly when you watch the sunrise. The rooftop bartender was engaging and entertaining, very fun. The staff at check-in and check out efficient, kind, and delightful.

huge, old-school, noisy, package-tour oriented hotel. felt like a throw back to a bye-gone age. Average food served in shifts. (However, nice Balinese restaurant trainees made us feel welcome).

Dany and Dora are outstanding hosts! My wife and I stayed only one night with the goal to see the sunrise at Alishan National Park. We took the high speed rail from Taipei to Chiayi and the bus from Chiayi to Alishan. Dany provided excellent details in clear English on how to navigate the bus system. Great staff and clean which was a pleasant surprise in a small mountain town. Had a great meal and tea. The tea is a must have if you enjoy Taiwan mountain tea.

We came to Zen and Pine Resort to hike Mt. Yushan. Although that wasn’t possible due to road closure, on the manager’s advice, we instead visited nearby Sun Moon Lake and hiked Mt. Shuishe, which was amazing and rescued our whole trip. I can’t say enough good things about the management of this property. We got to Chiayi much later than expected and had to take a cab up to the bus station and a B&B staff picked us up from the bus station. Even with a car, this B&B is bit hard to get to because it's higher up in the mountain. However, the scenery was fanstastic since the buildings are right next to tea plantations. Everything was excellent

My room overlooking the village's central area provided interesting views into local life. Breakfast was available at the hotel's modest restaurant across the street. Helpful staff showed me the ingredients so I could build my own breakfast since I could not complete their Chinese language menu. The bathroom had its own onsen tub, so I did not use the spa.
