"Good location to walk aroung history rich Okazaki-district, from Gimkaku-ji to Nanazen-ji and Heian-Jingu. Even you can challenge Shougun-Zuka if you like mountain hike. If you are ready or can book in advance, famous restaurants are within walking distance. "

"Location was very good but the hotel is very dated and appears grubby because of it. The staff are hidden behind a wall so you can’t see them and can only communicate via a space at the bottom. It was kind of weird. The staff were friendly though. "

"I don't think there is a better location in Kyoto to stay. You are away from the busier spots in Kyoto and the mountains are just a walk away. Getting up in the mornings and getting to explore right outside the hotel was very exciting. Great staff and quiet, clean rooms. Would highly recommend!"

"Such a beautiful area and amazing ryokan hotel. Staffs are so attentive, food was great. Also not as far from kyoto city as i thought. 30-40mins from taxi and bit more with the bus/ the bus station was just 10mins walk from the hotel. I would love to go back in autumn time. "

"Room was clean, fairly large, and having washing machine in the room was a blessing. Location seemed initially to be a bit remote - but in fact it was smack in the middle of everything we wanted to visit and easy walk to Sanjo (restaurants galore!). Definitely recommend Stay Sakura."

"The owner was very lovely and polite, he prep matcha tea for welcoming us also offering fresh bread making in the morning for our breakfast but my family were very tired from a long day travelling and activities we did in the area, we just want to sleep in so we had to miss out on that. House was clean. The bath was the highlight for us. Just the tap in both toilets a bit hard to operate so we had to wash our hands in the bathroom instead."

"This is the perfect place for an authentic Japanese experience. The staff are wonderful and the meals are superb. Tranquil surroundings with a 5 star multi-course meals each day for breakfast and dinner. The sauna and hot baths were great for winding down after a day of touring. Touring was easy because bus lines and train lines are nearby. We were sorry to leave the Tea House and really hope to return some day. "

"Lovely inn in the mountains of Kyoto. Staff was very friendly and helpful despite the language barrier. Rooms were clean and cozy. Onsen was great as well. A bit out of the way but would still recommend."

"Hiro is a real hero! He made our stay so special and an unforgettable experience. We had some travel delays and then extended our trip and he has been so flexible with everything and even gave us a ride to the train station! The place is spotless, good internet, the kitchenette made all the difference with home cooking and it's a central but quiet location. 10/10 for sure!"
