There is no place that I know of with a more scenic and tranquil view and setting on the Liddle Water. Set in Elliot territory on the edge of Armstrong lands in the ancient border lands of Liddesdale, this is an excellent location to start any journey through the area in discovering the area’s rich border reiver history. Jane and Michael and the most gracious hosts you will find. Morning coffee in the gazebo over the Liddle overlooking the pastures with the sound of the Black Byrn flowing below...
This was a beautiful facility and the owner was very friendly and helpful. The location is great if you are into country living, since it is a working farm about a five minute drive from the nearest town. Just be sure to ask for the correct postal code before going because the one given by Hotels.com is incorrect.
I stayed here one night on my way down to the Lake District. The food at both dinner and breakfast was excellent as was service. (I particularly appreciated that they had gluten free bread available in the morning.) The room was very clean and charming with french doors opening to a private deck. There was a kettle, but a small fridge would have been nice. There was ample parking close to the door. Hosts were very friendly and easy to chat with. This property was a find! I was concerned driving there as it was located in the middle of nowhere and thank God for Google maps else I don't know how I would find it. But what a delight!
