Downtown Springfield
Downtown Springfield buzzes with entertainment and history around every corner. The historic Gillioz Theatre lights up the night alongside lively bars and restaurants that keep the energy flowing. Discover local culture at the History Museum on the Square or catch the monthly First Friday Art Walk showcasing Ozarks creativity. Route 66 heritage peeks through in preserved architecture and colorful murals. Dining options range from upscale bistros to diners serving Springfield's famous cashew chicken. The compact downtown grid makes exploring on foot easy, with most attractions within a few blocks' walk. Historic boutique hotels in converted buildings offer character-filled accommodations that connect you to the city's vibrant past.

Commercial Street Historic District
Commercial Street Historic District blends preserved 1900s brick architecture with contemporary artistic energy. Century-old storefronts now house art galleries, craft breweries, and farm-to-table restaurants where you can sample Ozark trout paired with local beer. Live music spills from venues while colorful murals and vintage neon signs create a vibrant backdrop for exploring this creative hub. The compact four-block district is perfectly walkable with most attractions within easy reach. Lodging options include charming bed & breakfasts in nearby historic homes, while regular events like First Friday Art Walk showcase the district's thriving arts community.
Rountree
Historic Rountree neighborhood showcases Springfield's architectural heritage with stunning early 20th-century Craftsman bungalows and Tudor Revival homes. Mature oaks create natural canopies over brick-lined streets while decorative stonework and vintage details transport you to another era. This peaceful residential area offers an authentic glimpse into local life without tourist crowds. Visitors typically venture to nearby Missouri State University or downtown for dining options. Accommodations include charming bed & breakfasts in converted historic homes with period furnishings. The neighborhood's tree-lined streets are perfect for leisurely strolls, with easy access to university attractions and downtown Springfield just minutes away.

Galloway Village
Galloway Village blends historic charm with artistic energy in this former quarry district of Springfield. Stroll tree-lined paths past converted mill buildings now housing art studios and boutique shops. Sequiota Park beckons with its spring-fed cave and limestone bluffs, while the Galloway Creek Greenway offers perfect trails for morning walks or afternoon bike rides. The neighborhood's locally-owned cafes serve farm-to-table fare in historic buildings with plenty of character. Cozy bed & breakfasts in restored Victorian homes provide intimate lodging options. A car is recommended as public transit is limited, though the neighborhood core itself is wonderfully walkable.

Best Western Premier Springfield Plaza District Hotel
"Loved all the sleek contemporary fixtures and furniture! Exceptionally clean and quiet! One of the best stays I can remember! Also great location, close to everything we wanted."
Baymont by Wyndham Springfield South Hwy 65
"It was a nice stay. Our room was clean and the location was nice and convenient."
Best Western Route 66 Rail Haven
"Let me start with we would recommend & Stay again. By that being said… We stayed in the family suite. Room is small but worked! Has a desk, table with 2 chairs and a TV in the main area with a king size bed and a tv in the kids bunk room ( has a door and its own AC/Heat) the twin over full size bunks were perfect. The mattress on the full bottom bunk is like a RV cushion ( has a split down the middle, so not a real mattress) again it was perfect for us but I wanted to put that in there in case it doesn’t work for everyone. Bathroom was outdated but clean * Enough* to bath and use. The toilet is VERY small, my child said “put in the review that the toilet is so small my butt covers the entire seat!” Again worked just fine for us but wanted to add that in case it doesn’t work for another family. The walls by the king bed could have used a scrubbing in room 204. Definitely had dirty feet marks all over the walls. I wiped the table down before eating pizza and the baby wipe was still white which was great! Felt really safe in the area, loved seeing all the old cars, we even took a family photo under the Route 66 sign. We skipped out on breakfast just because we woke up late and the eating area was too small for my family with others already eating. We did peak at the breakfast area and looked clean, had lots of options but my family and I was headed to Bucces anyways we got breakfast there. They allow pets ( we had a dog). The hotel is “outside entrance” not in a building 👍"
Best Western Coach House
"A nice hotel with a really good breakfast, better than what we’ve experienced at other hotels along our trip. Comfy and clean. Complimentary bottled water was a nice touch."
Baymont by Wyndham Springfield I-44
"The only thing wrong was the city was doing road work on the interstate and they worked all night long. We could hear the trucks and large equipment. Not the hotel fault will be better when construction is finished."
Bass Pro Shops Angler's Lodge
"The stay was really nice and we enjoyed every minute of it! Can’t wait to do it again!!"
Days Inn & Suites by Wyndham Springfield on I-44
"Nice little pool, easy access to all kinds of places. The staff was wonderfully accommodating . You could text them with any question and the responded right away. Super nice to have that added perk. Parking was large and didnt leave you a far walk. Parking lot was very lighted to and a bus stop was right there for local transportation services. Big breakfast room. It was upstairs but...they have an awesome elevator for those who are elderly or disabled, that was another bonus. The room was small &compact, it was wonderfully packed with everything we needed. Fridge, microwave, iron & board , dresser for cloths and good size hanging area for your dresses or suites. Good water pressure. Best price too in the area 👌 👍 👏 🙌 😎. I will stay again next year. Thank you 😊"
Residence Inn by Marriott Springfield
"We loved this Residence Inn - very convenient location to attractions, shopping and restaurants. Very clean, quiet, and welcoming. We will definitely come back."
Drury Inn & Suites Springfield, MO
"Our stay was very good. Staff and property were top notch. Evening bar and snack were not of our liking. Skipped both nights events. Breakfast bar was a 10 on our first day's stay however, the second morning's bar was not as good as the morning before. The breakfast potatoes were hard as though they were left over from the previous day and were uneatable. Same meat and eggs as were served on our first day's stay. Thus, skip the breakfast and evening food bars and plan on going out on your own."
