Top neighborhoods in Manchester

Downtown Manchester
Downtown Manchester blends historic charm with modern energy, creating a dynamic city experience. Stroll past red-brick mill buildings along the Merrimack River or catch a show at the elegant Palace Theatre. Sports fans can cheer at SNHU Arena while history buffs explore the impressive Amoskeag Millyard complex that tells the story of New Hampshire's industrial past. The dining scene offers everything from upscale steakhouses to casual pubs along Elm Street. Business hotels and boutique inns in converted mill buildings provide comfortable places to stay, while the riverside walkways offer peaceful breaks from the urban buzz.

North End
Manchester's North End feels like your favorite comfy sweater – familiar, relaxed, and exactly what you need after a day of exploring. Tree-lined streets lead to charming homes where actual locals live their actual lives. Livingston Park offers a perfect spot for morning strolls or afternoon picnics. Architecture buffs shouldn't miss the nearby Zimmerman House, a rare Frank Lloyd Wright gem. The neighborhood's French-Canadian heritage shines through in family-run eateries serving authentic poutine and tourtière. Most visitors stay in cozy bed-and-breakfasts or vacation rentals with that personal touch. You'll need a car or rideshare to explore, but the peaceful residential vibe makes it worth the extra effort.
Lower South Willow
Manchester's Lower South Willow neighborhood offers attractions including Mall of New Hampshire.

South End
South End offers a peaceful escape from Manchester's downtown bustle with its tree-lined streets and well-maintained Victorian homes. This residential haven lets you experience authentic local living while enjoying the neighborhood's subtle French-Canadian influences. Filotimo Casino and Mall of New Hampshire are just a short drive away when you're ready to venture out. The area features scattered family-run cafés where you can savor authentic poutine without breaking the bank. Accommodations are primarily cozy bed & breakfasts in converted historic homes. While public transit is limited, the uncrowded sidewalks make walking a pleasure, and ride-sharing services are readily available.

Manchester and related destinations
Beneath the shadow of mill buildings reborn as tech hubs and trendy lofts, Manchester's industrial past meets its vibrant present. The Millyard Museum chronicles the city's textile heritage in what was once the world's largest cotton mill. Catch a Fisher Cats baseball game at Delta Dental Stadium, where the crack of bats echoes against the Merrimack River. Art lovers can wander the Currier Museum, home to Monet, O'Keeffe, and Picasso works, plus tours of the rare Frank Lloyd Wright-designed Zimmerman House. The Palace Theatre stages Broadway shows in a beautifully restored 1915 venue. Elm Street buzzes with restaurants where locals debate the merits of competing craft breweries while planning weekend hikes in the nearby White Mountains.

"Hôtel tranquille et confortable."
Hilton Garden Inn Tewksbury Andover
"Always looking for quick, quiet escape from NYC and travel to Boston and surrounding areas quite often. Was a little hesitant about booking based on some reviews, but thought would give a try. Check in on first day went smoothly, with young lady at front desk providing quick, accommodating check in. Facility and room itself seemed pretty clean, with access to gym and other amenities if wanted. The hotel was quiet for the most part, but could be little busy and a bit overwhelming depending on time of day. Gym offers plenty of exercise options, but could tell wasn’t cleaned often as there were used towels piled up on multiple days. There also weren’t options to wipe down equipment to assist with sanitation if needed. If choose to exercise/run outdoors, there are sidewalks and accessible areas that appear to be pretty safe. Encountered professional, kind staff in evenings, but some of morning staff (extended stay and interacted with staff) were a little gruff. Understand it was early and staff were eating breakfast, but still surprising to see food out so openly. Transportation is limited if trying to access Boston via public transportation. There is a bus w/ limited hours, or can access Lowell (?) station or Uber. Overall, clean quiet stay if in area."
