Highly recommended hotel with an amazing friendly staff from reception to room service. Our chamber maid Voula was exceptionally attentive and most accommodating. We enjoyed our stay to the maximum in a relaxing happy atmosphere. The entertainment in the evening was also exceptional with the 3 young tenors whom I fail to remember their names but they were majestic. From the genuinely friendly hotel staff, to the gorgeous pools, to the complementary breakfast each morning- we truly had a wonderful vacation! They even have yoga/Pilates each morning which was a great start to the day!
Also it is close to the Heraklion airport (15 min) which made travel easy.
What attracted me in the first place was the "golf resort" part of the hotel name. A short week's stay only gave the opportunity to see Knossos and the museum in Heraklion and do some golfing on Greece 4th best golf course. But I would be happy to come back (and bring my husband along) to enjoy relaxing at the perfect resort for exactly that.

The staff were friendly and very helpful. We had two stays in the hotel within a week as we booked a few extra days. The dining options were excellent and the rooms we had were both lovely. Also noteworthy was the spa. The ladies were very nice and I enjoyed my pedicure. The hotel was very clean and well maintained. Hope to visit again soon.
We bought very cheap flight tickets to Crete in February completely by change - never been to Crete before. Then we chose Venus Mare hotel after a lot of searching and comparing on booking, expedia, airbnb etc. In the end it was a great choice. The place is ideal for families - nice pool, quiet street (dead end), 200 m from the beach (not crowded and clean), everything in walking distance - bus stop to Heraklion and Hersonissos, the village on Analipsi, supermarket, car rentals, travel agencies...
The staff was prompt, professional, and personable. The Summer months at the hotel are frequented by mostly younger, single guests. The demographics shift to a wider audience including mostly couples and families in other months. That being said, an enjoyable experience may be found whenever you visit. Daily afternoon DJ service and a variety of evening shows across the week are provided in the spacious pool area.

Hersonissos is very chill. My hotel was fabulous- did not see a need to go out to clubs, etc., except for excursions, as it was all inclusive. There was nightly entertainment, 5 pools, several restaurants, and my own private beach. Very kid/family friendly as well as singles.
