Learn more about Chester
Tucked between pine forests and the sparkling waters of Lake Almanor, this mountain town serves as the perfect basecamp for outdoor adventures. Cast a line in local streams or paddle across the lake's crystal waters before hiking volcanic landscapes in nearby Lassen Volcanic National Park. The Collins Pine Museum offers fascinating glimpses into the lumber heritage that built this community. After exploring Chester Park's trails, warm up with homemade pie at a Main Street café where locals share fishing tips freely. In summer, the lake buzzes with activity, while winter brings peaceful snowshoeing opportunities. Don't miss the Warner Valley Trailhead, where wildflower meadows and geothermal features await just beyond the town limits.

Best Western Rose Quartz Inn
"Clean room. Easy check in. Nice location"
The Bidwell House
"Room was clean. Breakfast was awesome. And staff was wonderful. My only comment is that mattress and pillows are due for replacement in the Meadow View Suite. Other than that it was a wonderful two days!"
Antlers Inn
"Great place to stay. I have no complaints"
Drakesbad Guest Ranch
"Quaint and rustic retreat with wonderful people making the experience even better. Access to Mt Lassen Volcanic Park, trails and thermal pools. Close to Lake Almanor. Built in 1910, rooms in the lodge are small, only a bed & folding chair, but downstairs a large communal area offers multiple comfortable seating areas - big wingback leather chairs and a deep couch. Game rack in the corner, large wood stove in the middle. Some places show their age - the sagging deck- But care is taken. Bathrooms have a sink & toilet. Showers are available in a funky bathhouse down the path. If you don’t eat what’s on offer in the cafe, they’ll make you something else. Standard buffet breakfast - Belgian waffles, eggs, sausage, hash-browns, bagels, cereals. If the right people are working, you can get an espresso with nondairy milks, too. No outlets in the rooms - bring a battery for your CPAP or ask the staff for an attachment. Horses appeared well cared for."
