Learn more about Southwest Harbor
Forget the crowds of Bar Harbor – this quiet corner of Mount Desert Island offers all the beauty with none of the bustle. Acadia National Park's less-traveled trails like Flying Mountain reward hikers with harbor views that feel earned. The Wonderland Trail leads through spruce forests to tide pools teeming with starfish and sea urchins. Ship Harbor Nature Trail loops through classic Maine landscapes – granite, spruce, and sparkling sea. After kayaking alongside curious seals, return to town where lobster rolls are served without pretension at dockside picnic tables. The Wendell Gilley Museum celebrates the art of bird carving with remarkable precision. Long Pond offers peaceful paddling opportunities where loons call across misty morning waters.

Holiday Inn Resort Bar Harbor - Acadia Natl Park by IHG
"The hotel's location is perfect, not only because of its view but because its proximity to Bar Harbor downtown. Our room was spacious and well equipped. The hotel has good amenities. However, our check in experience was not good. Our room wasn't ready and we weren't notified when it was. The lady didn't give us any information about shuttle services (I believe there is), or check out time, or restaurant options. She was less than helpful. We had dinner at the italian restaurant and they made us wait 40 minutes for our food, which was less than average. The server apologized for the delay but they didn't offer a treat to make it up. So overall, I rate their customer service as really poor."
Wonder View Inn - Bar Harbor Collection
"Beds were comfortable. Nice bathroom. Island Runner picks up here. Easy walk into town if you feel like walking. Reception folks were top notch. I have zero to complain about."
Seasider Motel
"We had a great stay at the Seaside Motel. The room was very clean, comfortable, and well maintained, which made our visit enjoyable from the start. The staff was friendly, welcoming, and always willing to assist with anything we needed. Guest services were excellent. The location was also a major plus, with convenient access to nearby Bar Harbor dow town area, restaurants, amd shops. Overall, we were very pleased with our stay and would definitely recommend the Seaside Motel to others looking for a clean, comfortable, and welcoming place to stay. Most importantly, front desk personnel made a generous donation of their first aid kit on our departure day to save my finger that I crushed with a tailgate but that's another story."
Anchorage Motel
"Location is perfect. Walk to the beach in 5 minutes, so many restaurants to choose, and lots of entertainments. Close to Explore shuttle bus stops to Acadia national park. Grocery store walkable. No need to drive if you don't want to."
Main Street Motel
"We loved our stay. The motel was very convenient to the center of town with easy parking. The staff were all very friendly and we enjoyed the coffee and snacks available in the office."
Acadia Ocean View Hotel
"Proximité de tout, personnel souriant, propreté! Tout était parfait!"
