Learn more about Skowhegan
Along the Kennebec River, this historic village reveals its character through unexpected details. The world's tallest Indian statue - a 62-foot wooden tribute to the Abenaki people - stands sentinel downtown. Every August, the nation's oldest continuously running state fair celebrates rural traditions. The Margaret Chase Smith Library honors America's first woman to serve in both houses of Congress. Eaton Mountain offers family-friendly winter skiing, while Great Moose Lake beckons paddlers in summer. The Langlais Art Trail showcases quirky wooden sculptures throughout town. For the perfect riverside moment, grab coffee at The Bankery, housed in a former bank where the vault now stores pastries instead of cash.

Fireside Inn & Suites Waterville
8/10 Good
"Exactly as advertised. Perfectly adequate nothing crazy fancy close to everything."
The Skowhegan By Kasa
10/10 Excellent
"This is in a stunningly well-restored old mill building right on the Kennebec River. The rooms are big and bright. The restoration's level of detail is incredible. And the Birtgarten next door is excellent. Highly recommend."
Lockwood Hotel
10/10 Excellent
"The staff and hotel were great"
The Towne Motel
8/10 Good
"One night stay, clean and pleasant staff."
Belmont Motel
8/10 Good
"I screwed up my reservation, and they helped accommodate me which was appreciated. We had two rooms for 3 nights. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Everything worked, beds were comfortable. No bugs and I would stay here again. Pool is closed off and won't be opening but this is not an issue for us. The only issue I had was the sign in the breakfast area that said we couldn't take the food to our rooms. I asked if I could take my food to my mother's room since she is 84 and was told yes. What I noticed is that everyone took their food to their rooms and ignored the sign. Would stay here again in the future."
