We love small, cozy places that are full of character and this hotel is exactly that!
The hotel is located in what seems an old Sicilian villa but the rooms are completely renovated, modern and spotless clean. The check-in was very fast (despite the fact that we arrived at 2 in the morning), the staff very pleasant and welcoming. We chose a room with a view toward the Etna - what an incredible view! The property and property grounds are extremely well maintained - there are flowers and trees...
We booked a room in the Rock annex. It was an entire, fully equipped apartment. The Rock annex is located across the street and down about one block from the main hotel. To be honest, other than doing the initial checkin and a walk around, we never went to the main hotel building. The pool is located there and there is a small bar. However, we were not in Taormina to sit by the pool, so it was of little interest to us. The apartment was wonderful! Quiet. Accessible to everything. Best, I was...
The hotel is ideally located at the far end of the Giardini Naxos Beachfront. About 15 minutes walk from the Station. The Bus Stop for buses to Taormina, and from Catania Airport is opposite the hotel. There are plenty of Restaurants and Bars close-by along the seafront, within 5-15 minutes walk. Our room had a small balcony which looked directly out to sea.
The Hotel staff were all very helpful, both on Reception, and in the Dining Room.
Breakfasts were the usual buffet style with savoury and...
My husband Robert and I loved this quaint hotel with delicious food, top rated local wines, beautiful suites, and the best ever professional and friendly staff. We hated that we could not stay longer where we felt so at home! Especially the kind and friendly staff were memorable:Dahlia briefed us on the Villa and all it and the town had to offer, including a great map; Manuel made the best Italian cocktails and really selected fantastic local wines; Anna's English was spectacular as she served...
The breakfasts were amazing! So many choices to choose from. The location is convenient to other attractions and shopping but far enough away for peace and quiet.
The location is absolutely beautiful. The staff are friendly and so helpful, going out of their way to accommodate. We experienced equivalent hospitality across every staff, from reception to bell boy to bar lobby (Fabio and Frederica!) to espresso maker to housekeeping and the lifeguard! So sincere, they seem to love doing what they do.
For ease of mobility, there are working elevators to pool areas and up to the 3rd floor of the hotel rooms. Reception was helpful to change our room to 3rd...
Property and room were clean and well maintained. Breakfast buffet and staff were excellent.
Only problem was banging noises late at night from the room above. Also, stairs at entrance can be a problem for handicapped people.
Thank you.
We loved the Santa Caterina hotel, and would highly recommend it to anyone, families, couples, singles. It is in a great location to visit many of the beautiful towns surrounding it, Etna, and Catania. Acireale is Baroque as is much of this part of Italy and very close to the Isole Ciclope of Odyssey fame. Fabulous area, great food, local life.
