When I booked this hotel, we needed a little bit of serenity after a very busy first five days in Lisbon and Porto. The grounds are absolutely breathtaking. It is in the middle of nowhere —driving up these tiny roads you think you’re in a residential area and you come upon this castle-like structure. The hotel is located at the summit of Monte Santa Luzia and offers a commanding view of the basilica standing just below it. The facility is great and servies are sufficient. The hotel manager went out of his way to help by driving home and bringing in his own WiFi converter for us to use, because the hotel equipment was waiting for repair on that day and there was no WiFi on the floor we stayed.
This place is an absolute gem. We felt like guests at a private country estate. Our room was very clean and well furnished. The morning breakfast was better than most.
