Overall, it was a clean well maintained hotel. Staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was just perfect and worth the cost. If your room is ready to check in early - you need to pay a few bucks per hour. The shuttle ride to the airport/hotel is on the hourly schedule.

Unique beautiful dream of a place! Will be back

Spent my honeymoon at the Houghton Hotel and from being greeted with a rose and complimentary glass of wine, we knew it would be a pleasant experience. From the front desk staff to the restaurant we were well taken good care of! Our room was beautiful and spacious. Delicious food and most friendly staff, we loved Sisa! Will absolutely come again and recommend!

Zodwa was accommodating & helpful. Kitchen personnel were friendly. Now that I have had a good experience here, I shall return & refer others.

Every aspect of our stay was intentionally welcoming. From the welcome beverages to the bedside treat, we felt cared for every moment of our stay. The tour of the sanctuary allowed us to have an inside look into the life of Nelson Mandela. Each person at the sanctuary told us more about the beautiful history of his time there. We highly recommend a stay at the sanctuary to all who visit Johannesburg. The meals were exceptional and designed with a global perspective. Each dish has its own story....

As a woman traveling alone my top priority is always safety. This was my first trip to South Africa and i was a bit nervous. Arthur promptly picked me up from the airport and I felt safe. I just needed a place to get a hot shower, some good sleep, and a hot meal. It was a quick overnight stop for me in between flights. I could not have asked for a better experience. Highly recommend, especially if you are a solo traveler with safety concerns.

Beautiful decor and kind staff!

So wonderful! Peaceful! Such beautiful surrounding gardens, gorgeous pool! I loved everyone of staff. Their restaurant has the BEST chefs! We stepped out of our spacious, modern, beautifully decorated room after a free shuttle ride whose driver met us inside the airport! A comfortable 15 minute ride from the airport! Perfection. Staff, spa, room, shower (one of the best showers in the world), bed, the setting, food! It does not get much better than the Saxon. Worth every penny.

Did not use the pool

The stay here was great. The rooms are big and comfortable. The breakfast was delicious. I loved all the green areas surrounding the poolside and the gardens. The staff was really friendly. The only thing I could mention was that the wifi signal was little low but it still worked, so I don't really have any complaints.

We had a fantastic 6 night stay. There are a few options for breakfast and the service is always friendly and welcoming (great cappuccino!). Be sure to close out your evening at the bar where we had great conversations and enjoyed live music (as well as generous pours on the G&T). The hotel is on Grant Street and surrounded by a number of restaurants, shops, and close to a grocery and pharmacy. The Staff is extraordinary! They accommodated all our needs and requests. We loved our stay. Breakfast was delicious. Staff continued to fill the buffet so no one was left without.

Have stayed at Safari Club many times. Always welcomed by the friendly, helpful staff. Its small enough to feel very homey. My go-to place in Johannesburg.
