We really enjoyed our time at Mdluli Safari Lodge. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Having them prepare food for safari's and coordinate timing made things so easy.
We also appreciated the fact that they are partnered with and employ people from the community.
The property itself was well maintained and felt brand new. It was really exciting to see all of the wildlife as we arrived (and left from) the property, as well as while we ate some of our meals.
This was probably one of the best hotel stays I ever experienced, thanks to the hospitality of Christel. She warmly greeted us with a smile and hug and was so absolutely inviting. Her energy was infectious and put me in a good mood the whole trip through. Christel was very helpful in giving us her recommendations and helping us navigate around the area. Her team was also good with housekeeping and leaving us bottled water and snacks throughout our stay there.

I booked what I thought was a Safari tent room, but in actuality it was a “2 person tent”. My reservation clearly stated “tent but I had just assumed that it was the Safari tent room. Looking 5rough the pictures on the site of the location a “2 person tent” is NOT pictured. I asked for an upgrade and I paid an additional 380 Rand for a room. This is a destination facility that is conveniently located near Kruger NP. I love that it is inside of an operating farm and mourned by so much wildlife and beautiful trees.

The owners are very friendly and help you with any and everything. They have been in the area for decades. The breakfast and dinner options were 5 star and the service was amazing. The location and views are simply stunning.
Absolutely great ambience and convenient location. Bed and bath linens were great. Bed was comfortable. Outdoor seating was fantastic for evening wine and morning coffee.
Room 2 and 3 back garden and quiet with earplugs at night. Saloon restaurant had a nice prix fix dinner with a few options for each course 195-245 I believe
We loved our stay with Penny at Thulamela. This is a great place to base yourself if you are doing the Panorama Route or heading into Kruger. We stayed for 3 nights and didn't regret a moment. Breakfast on the porch was incredible and we slept better than we had in a long time. Wifi is available only near the reception area, but Penny was so kind as to put a table and chair out for my husband to use when he needed to work. What an incredible host and amazing stay.
