I had a great stay here. Norlyn gave me directions on how to arrive to Drake's Bay and picked me up from beach. He showed me around the town as well. The hotel was within waking distance of restaurants, hiking trail and beach. It's quiet and has good internet. Breakfast was good. It was clean. The people there were very friendly and helpful. He also helped me to book tours for the week.
This place is fantastic. Wonderful location and amenities. The food here is 5-star and the service is even better. I loved the grounds of the hotel. Just be aware there are a lot of steps to get to your room. A lot. Even still I will be back.
A cute super well ran hotel away from town, the staff was the best we've ever had at a location. This is a family run place that makes you feel like family while you are there. The food is great! I was at the last cabana on the ridge. It had a kitchen in an attached room. It was great to bring back leftovers, make coffee and enjoy local fruit. There were 2 beds, a king and queen. The shower was walk in and everything worked well and was very clean. I ate at the table on the patio, enjoyed the hammock, and entertained by a multitude of birds, ant eater and ajouti. We spent four nights at Poor Man's, including New Year's Eve. I was hoping to find a place where we could really get away from the world, and this was perfect. Sunset Lodge truly did have one of the best views in Drake bay! It’s worth spending a little more to get the bungalow with the pool. It was great hanging out on the deck after a day at the beach or doing a guided activity. Also, if you like birding it’s a great spot to sit and watch! We had parrots and macaws flying over and landing in the trees right next to the bungalow. There were several local iguanas that live in the trees as well!

Really great staff who really know the area and cultivate the farm. They can give you information on ecology you won't find outside of guided tour groups in the park, and there's also yoga. The property is beautiful and it is easy to see birds.
It is a pretty primitive property and so you should be expecting bug bites and no modern comforts. Bathing in rainwater is amazing, but it is also not warm. Also the ants really bite- I was itchy for a week afterward. So be careful.
