House and grounds are wonderful as is the owner Andy. Everything one could need is here. The breakfast was superb. Quiet, peaceful and every amenity taken care of. After a day on the water at Poor Knights this was a welcomed retreat. Dinner prepared optionally or at their suggestion we picked up fabulous fish and chips and ate outside on the patio. Perfect ending to a perfect day Thank you. We will definitely be back!

My husband and I arrived in Whangarei unexpectedly due to a medical emergency. After being discharged from the local hospital we booked the Lodge Bordeaux at the recommendation of the port agent. From the moment we checked in Josh, one of the owners at the front desk, was so welcoming and accommodating. It's a little bit outside Whangarei, but really I don't know why you would want to stay in the town itself since all the fun locations are closer to the coast. Overall it's a great hotel if you need a place to crash for a couple of nights. The standard rooms are small, but they have everything you need and are quite clean for a motel. The staff is friendly and the main lounge/restaurant area is comfortable and spacious. Can't really go wrong staying here if you don't want luxury.
