This was truly an authentic overnight stay in a castle built in the early 1500's. The castle was amazing by itself, but our room, Henry VIII, was an experience by itself! It was exactly what we had hoped for and more than we expected. The bedding and towels were outstanding as was the comfort of the bed. The shower was also great plus there was a jacuzzi tub. We could not determine how to turn on the heated towel rack, and we had issues with turning on the fireplace (so did the gentleman...
We enjoyed our stay at Egypt Mill Hotel as the surroundings are beautiful and the location is convenient to driving to various villages in the Cotwolds. We also ate dinner in the hotel restaurant and it was quite good each time. We did not see any other restaurants within walking distance but there is a village nearby. We liked everything about the hotel. The room was very spacious and nicely appointed. The only disappointment was the fact that we would’ve loved to have had high tea, and try to book a reservation in the morning for the same day and were told that we needed to give 40 hours notice. I didn’t see that posted anywhere. If you have it posted it’s in very little print. You might want to revisit that. If it was on your website, I didn’t see it which could’ve been my fault. The Abbey is a darling place to stay. Clean rooms, comfortable beds, and the most charming staff. Lovely breakfast and absolutely perfect location, close to everything . . . walkable to high street, tons of restaurants, the theatre, and the bus depot. I will definitely stay here again.

This is a fantastic little inn just outside Gloucester. The staff was incredibly helpful and kind to us as we navigated our way about . Cannot say enough good things about the people at The Wharfhouse. Best to have your own car at hand but you can make do with taxi service as we did or with short, 1 mile, hike into town. Highly recommend The Wharfhouse.
