We had a wonderful two nights at this peaceful oasis. The silo rooms are charming, clean, and comfortable, with beautiful views. Joao, the host, was accommodating, friendly, and welcoming. The food was great, really good breakfast, and a nice selection of snacks and wines on the lovely terrace. Highly recommend for a quiet getaway!
Meticulously clean property, quiet, relaxing, and professionally managed hotel. I have nothing but superlatives to say about our experience in Favaios. The town itself is worth the trip and the people are among the most friendly I have encountered in Portugal. Even the dogs are mellow. We will return.
From the moment we arrived, we were impressed by the beautiful home. The home is cozy, clean and welcoming. I felt comfortable walking through the home and enjoying the shared areas. The staff member was very welcoming and the check in was quick and painless. Our room was spacious, comfortable, well-appointed, had a great view of the mountain.

We absolutely adored our stay at Gricha! We spent 2 nights and could have stayed weeks! The hotel was wonderful at accommodating our late arrival and early departure. We loved breakfast, the picnic lunch, the pool, the tour, the tasting, and our catered dinner. I enjoyed that they offered an honesty bar for wine. We would highly recommend!
We thoroughly enjoyed staying at this location. Originally we were only going to stay one night but then ended up staying an additional two nights. The property was beautiful and conveniently located. The whole staff treated us like family specially Agnes. She was amazing. She was so helpful and even booked our dinner reservations one night. My family (2 adults, 1 child) really enjoyed the beauty, tranquility, and rich culture and history of this part of the Douro Valley. Maria was a wonderful host, and she was especially helpful in finding a particular, fairly new viewpoint in the Douro Valley and just in providing helpful information for things to do and things to eat.
We really want to come back when we choose to visit Portugal again in the future.
Lovely picturesque property. Guest rooms are rectangular structures mostly glasses terraced on the hills with a beautiful view of wine country. Pro-tip meals can be ordered takeout through hotel management.
Beware of ants don’t leave food out.
This was one of our favorite stays of our whole trip in Portugal. It’s incredibly quiet, peaceful and beautiful. We could have spent days just sitting out on the beautiful garden. The room was spacious, bed was comfortable, and patio was a great additional space. We weren’t able to eat dinner at the hotel the specific night we stayed, but would recommend it over driving into town. Kira was the sweetest dog roaming the property. Would love to come back one day.
