Our two-night stay at Paço de Calheiros was absolutely wonderful. We were met in the courtyard by Francisco, the Count Calheiros. He showed us to our room while giving us a quick rundown of the property and invited us to refreshments on the patio before dinner. He joined us and four other guests at dinner during which he provided an interesting history of the century’s old estate/vineyard and the Calheiros family. After dinner the Count gave us a tour of the castle.

Location was excellent. The staff was absolutely amazing extremely helpful and kind. The food was wonderful. I’d highly recommend this hotel. It’s much more than just a hotel here. It’s definitely an experience you’ll remember.
This five-star stone hotel is a true gem. The manicured gardens are stunning — every corner immaculately kept, perfect for peaceful morning walks. But what truly elevated our stay was the staff: warm, professional, and attentive at every turn. The management clearly sets a high standard, and it shows in the seamless, thoughtful service throughout — from check-in to housekeeping to dining.

The hotel is very nice in a great walking location with great daily breakfast, dinner was delicious as well. The room was spotless and the staff were friendly, polite and very helpful. Highly recommend this hotel. Can’t wait until my return, this is my second trip staying here.
A truly wonderful stay. The staff were warm, attentive, and always ready to help. The location was excellent, set within a wonderful winery setting that made the experience even more memorable. Being a working, family-owned winery gave the property a unique charm and authentic atmosphere. The accommodation itself was fabulous — comfortable, stylish, and beautifully maintained. A great boutique hotel to kick back and relax for a few days while traveling in Northern Spain and Portugal. The staff couldn't be nicer and we're always very helpful.
The hotel is located at the summit of Monte Santa Luzia and offers a commanding view of the basilica standing just below it. The facility is great and servies are sufficient. The hotel manager went out of his way to help by driving home and bringing in his own WiFi converter for us to use, because the hotel equipment was waiting for repair on that day and there was no WiFi on the floor we stayed.
