Seldom do the pictures on the website match the real thing. Sepana is the exception. The view of the rice terraces are incredible. Just as fabulous as in their website. In fact, tour groups stop at Sepana for the view. It’s a 10 minute scooter ride into town but easily manageable with a scooter service You don’t even need a guide to hike the rice terraces. One of the trails begins at the hotel and lead you down to the bridge that crosses over the river into the rice terraces.

The property isn’t ready to reopen after some remodeling, but Quan welcomed me and gave me a very nice room. He delivered meals to me and made sure I had everything I needed. I’m sure it will be fabulous, once the remodel is complete! I definitely recommend. (Note that the hotel is about 30 minutes from Sapa town, so, it’s great if you want peace and quiet, but you’re better off in town if you want any amenities nearby.)

We had stayed in sapa at another location for a few nights and we booked the clay house as a splurge/treat. We were blown away by all the small details they’d included in the stay— even a diffuser in the room on for our arrival and they turned the heating blanket on for us while we were at dinner and they were replacing some items. Tons of lodging options in Sapa, but this is a great choice for the savvy traveler. Close to the action (the lake is just steps away) but on a quiet side street, conveniently located between the town center and the always-interesting Sapa Market. The morning breakfast buffet had plenty of tasty offerings, and the folks at the front desk went above and beyond to help with logistics, recommendations, tours, etc. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again!
