Service was excellent and the staff very helpful. We stayed in the new wing which is
spotless albeit spartan. Would be nice to have a micro and fridge. I didn’t play golf but think the management could put some investment towards course improvements.
Someone told me there’s a focus on wedding bookings. I would say that marketing as a golf resort would compliment the wedding business nicely. In order to do this you have to have a really nice course and...
The room was clean and the staff were excellent. There is a large sitting room off the reception area that is a great place to meet people or just rest with your party during the visit, which is fantastic. The only challenge was the fire alarm in the room had a VERY bright light that ultimately had to cover with a towel to get off to sleep. Also, the windows aren't great at drowning out the road noise, which is a common issue in hotels on these busy roads, so be sure to bring ear plugs with you....
Welcoming staff, convenient location. It was a really good place to stay, and convenient for the town centre. I parked the car and left it at the hotel until it was time to leave, two days later.
The food was excellent, from the bar meal the first evening to the excellent buffet breakfasts.
I would certainly stay there again.
The Chantry is what a bed and breakfast used to be like - beautifully appointed, friendly and caring staff, a nice kettle and all you need for tea or coffee in your room (including biscuits), a delicious breakfast well-served. and all meticulously clean. To top it all off, it’s wonderfully central. Thank you for a wonderful stay.
Location was easy to find with ability to have dinner after arrival. Easy to get into Bury St. Edmunds and back to RAF Lakenheath if need be. Close to several gas stations and highway. Room was very clean, roomy, and very quiet. Only stayed 1 night, but definitely would stay again and could easily do several nights. Next time, will try pub downstairs.
We arrived early...and Adam was there to tell us about the place. The village is quaint... easy to get groceries if needed. The room was spacious---and we had the little garden door-- we sat outside each evening....listening to the birds. There is a lot of history in this area.

The hotel was lovely and set in a great location directly across the street from the Fitzwilliam museum. A short walk into the the center and very quiet. The staff was extremely polite and helpful. We would definitely recommend and will return there.
I am aged 58 and I found all the staff very helpful, the room number 26 was excellent for the price, the cooked breakfasts enjoyable and consistent across the four mornings. The grounds and setting are lovely, quiet, secluded from the nearby streets yet there is easy access to Bury St. Edmunds and nearby trunk roads. I would definitely stay here again.
This B&B was absolutely wonderful! The room was spacious, we stayed in the Nelson. Pillows and bed were very good. Cute little pub next door was a nice touch.
