Vittorio is an amazing super host. Can't thank him enough for his hospitality and making us feel right at home. He stayed in contact with us until we reached Scalea by train. A totally off the beaten path mountaintop retreat in a quaint village. The surrounding area is quite stunning. Nothing but lush agriculture and nature on very steep hills with views. There is a rustic ristorante in town with pretty good if not gourmet food, inexpensive beer and wine and plenty of good cheer from the other guests of all ages. If you are up for something different, make the slow windy drive here and you should be delighted.

Palias Hotel was wonderful! Nice rooms and clean and great location, 5 minutes walk to restaurants. Best of all Roberto was super friendly and helpful and welcoming! He made coffee and gave us homemade sandwiches when we missed breakfast. He was extremely friendly and happy to help with our travel plans. You feel well cared for at Palias! My family of 4 stayed in the mansard rooms. It was a perfect two bedroom set up with a private bath and sitting room for us to share. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. There is nothing bad to say about this property other than the fact we only stayed one night. We chose it due to its location between our drive from Sicily to Naples.
