Great location. We had a large terrace with amazing views of the castle and mountains. Rooms were large with ample space. Hotel offered two restaurants and a complimentary breakfast each day. Also offered free parking.
The views were to die for, think Sound of Music Mountain Views. Excellent location on the slopes above a wide valley. Wake up to cow bells from nearby mountain meadows, with sunsets illuminating the mountains beyond which you can enjoy from your spacious balcony. Good food and wine and beer selection. We came for a week of rest and found it here. Service was courteous and we especially enjoyed getting to know some of the waitstaff whom were more interactive with us and our dog. Very pet friendly hotel! The views were spectacular as we were able to enjoy a beautiful winter snowscape and as the weather warmed, we saw peeks of green and the beautiful color of the lake. We were lucky Fussen had no vacancies so we ventured out to Pfrontener Hof and were happy we did. The next-door ski lift up the mountain made for a great day of hiking and views. Dinner options in Pfrontener were also good and easy to get a table. If you are looking for a quiet place with great views away from crowds, I'd suggest you try here.
We enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Hirsch overall and would consider staying there again if we were going to be in the area. The front of the building reminds me of something out of a Wes Anderson film, and the inside is equally cute and comfortable with an updated, yet traditional Bavarian feel. Our room had wood flooring and a rug, which is something I don't often see in hotels! Dinner at the hotel restaurant was an enjoyable experience as well.

We had a fantastic stay and wished it had been longer! The restaurant in the hotel is delicious and they source everything locally. The staff was friendly and kind. Everything about this hotel was wonderful.
This hotel is great!! It's rustic and charming with spectacular views. We had a family room and it's the most spacious room we've stayed in Europe. The room had a wonderful view, nice patio and super comfy beds. We came in summer and are looking forward to coming back in winter and bringing our dog. As a chef, I need to mention the restaurant - it was outstanding and delicious! You can tell there are talented chefs in the kitchen based on how tasty the food is and how well it is plated....
It is hard to find spacious hotel rooms but this room had more space than we even needed. Comfortable beds, blackout shades, and beautiful views of the hills, Alps in the distance and castle ruins literally accross the street. It was peaceful and perfect! And the breakfast and dinner we had at the hotel were amazing!
