The Oaks Hotel

8/10 Good

"Second stay at the oaks. First time was in a family room with grandson which was great- this time in a double, which looked great on the surface but few minor issues - shower cubicle far too small, sockets not well positioned to use hairdryer/ tongs and pillows too thin and flimsy. The staff were brilliant as per previous visit and full Northumbrian breakfast was faultless and up there with the best. The location is ideal- only a 10 minute stroll to castle and town. Parking was easy - we couldn’t check in till 2pm but were allowed to use car park on arrival at 10.30am. Overall another pleasant stay."

"Beautifully renovated and clean room in a small building next door to the pub. We both found the mattress on our bed to be a bit too firm though. It made a lovely base for a couple of days exploring the area and the nearby beach (15 minute walk) is stunning. For a longer stay the room may possibly be a bit small but for two nights it was ideal. Good breakfast and the meals in the pub were very good without being overly expensive. Staff were helpful and friendly. Parking at the pub is very limited with the on-street parking being resident permit parking so you may have to use the free public car park a few hundred metres away."

"Lovely stay at a lovely location. Staff were lovely a d the lookout room was great. Breakfast was also delicious. My only critique would be the dinner menu didn't have many vegetarian options (one starter, one main and one salad) so we ended up having to get a takeaway instead of dining I. The restaurant."

"We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 night stay. Our room (127) was spacious and well equipped, in a quieter position looking over the car park away from but conveniently located for the main road. The staff were friendly and helpful and the food (breakfast and dinner) was excellent too. Would definitely recommend and stay here again 👍"

"Enjoyed a 2 night stay, although room was a bit snug, it was clean and comfortable and had full length mirror and plenty of plug sockets which is always good. The staff were really friendly and welcoming and we enjoyed a few drinks in the bar. The breakfast was amazing, so much to choose from ... delicious fresh fruit, yoghurts, cereal and cereal bars, every spread you could think of for toast and the cooked breakfast was really tasty, again with lots of choice. We would happily stay again if visiting Amble in the future 😊"
