The hotel is fantastic. Really nice gentleman who owns it, very accommodating to us as a family. The town of Messac/Guipry shuts down early though and it’s hard to find places to buy food and eat out as a family. L’Escala was really our only option.
The hotel was close to the Rennes airport, which made it very convenient.
The staff was very kind and helpful.

Le Château de la Villedubois is a very special place! It is not a hotel… but really, it’s so much more. The owners are lovely, friendly and very helpful. They are custodians of a rich history and have renovated their family home with integrity and wonderful taste!
You will need your car to get around. It is very private and the rooms are truly spacious and beautifully decorated.
The breakfast offered was perfect. There are quite a few very good restaurants within a 10 mns drive on the outskirts...
I enjoyed my stay at this hotel. It was clean and decorated with vintage pictures and furniture that was neat. The staff was super friendly and helpful to us. The hotel has free wifi, free parking, and the breakfast is under 8 euro which is really reasonable for breakfast. It's about a 25-30 minute walk to the city center or there is a bus stop only a block away. We had rented a car so the free parking at the hotel was awesome and being out from the city worked well for us. We liked being in a...
All was delightful. We ate dinner at the restaurant and was very good! Room was clean. No fan or air conditioning, fortunately we didn’t need it. We left a window open and was cool enough to sleep.
No frills hotel, clean room, good breakfast and coffee. A good place to stay if you are staying one day in Rennes and plan to take a train to somewhere else in France. The shower is small, but adequate. With good water flow.
We had a nice stay with Jean Luc. He is so earnest and caring. He was always patient and helpful in guiding us to the must-see sights on our list. This is a glimpse of French country living as it was in the past. Enjoyed Jean Luc's crepes of which is rightfully proud.
We stayed at the Brit Hotel in Granville the night before and liked it, so we booked again for Rennes. This one was not as nice and didn't have as many amenities in the room. Also, the area didn't seem to be walking distance to anything. The room was comfortable though, and they had free parks by.
Very pleasant surprise. Pictures on-line did not reflect that hotel has been recently renovated throughout.
