I wasn't sure what to expect, because it's a hostel. You don't get your own bathroom, but they are clean and well kept. Also, if you have mobility issues, this might not be for you, since there are steep stairs to the rooms. If you're looking for a quiet place outside of the Wellington bubble, this may be a good spot. I stayed at this property for 9 days and it had everything one needs including a fridge, microwave, oven, sink and every kitchen gadget along with dishes, utensils, and pots and pans. My room was clean and well appointed. My room was essentially a studio apartment. The prices are very reasonable. The staff went out of their way to be friendly and helpful. Green Gables will be my go to stay on my next trip to Lower Hutt, Wellington.
