The Horse and Hound is located in a quiet area of the borderlands, yet has access to a good road net hat puts you in the center of many great places to visit. The place is quaint and comfortable, with the dining area being bright and cheerful, and the pub (the oldest part of the building) and is the village place to go (the locals are very friendly). The staff are cheerful and helpful, and the food is very good. The rooms are a decent size, with on suite bathrooms, and the beds are comfortable....

There is no place that I know of with a more scenic and tranquil view and setting on the Liddle Water. Set in Elliot territory on the edge of Armstrong lands in the ancient border lands of Liddesdale, this is an excellent location to start any journey through the area in discovering the area’s rich border reiver history. Jane and Michael and the most gracious hosts you will find. Morning coffee in the gazebo over the Liddle overlooking the pastures with the sound of the Black Byrn flowing below...

The Old Priory Guesthouse

Beautifully decorated large rooms, comfortable beds, good shower, great location and friendly helpful host added up to a wonderful stay in a gorgeous old priory building oozing with history. Breakfast was made fresh every morning and was delicious and varied with lots of fresh fruit, yoghurt, full Scottish or other options. Host Robin gave us a great welcome and walkthru but gave us plenty of space. We loved our stay and highly recommend his house.
