We really enjoyed our one night stay at Valtionhotelli. There are actually 2 parts of the hotel to stay in, either the castle or the outbuilding which can be accessed through a tunnel from the castle. The receptionist, Wenla, was as welcoming as could be and very helpful. The breakfast was more than adequate with a large variety of options. We stayed at this apartment with 2 adults and 2 kids while traveling in Finland. The apartment was new, very clean, and relaxing. It was the best place we stayed on our vacation.

The hotel staff was simply excellent. She was very knowledgable about the environment and more than happy to share and direct is to everything there is to see in Lappeenranta (which is more than you might expect). The sauna is very good, we enjoyed it very much. The room came with a kitchenette and some ingredients for breakfast (tea, porridge). Comfortable bed, too.

This was a lovely hotel in a GREAT location. Just a quick walk to restaurants, shops and a waterfront park. The breakfast buffet was exceptional.

We came from the US to visit a family member, this is our 2nd year in a row staying here and we love it. The price is amazing for what you get, we stayed in the Villas and the apartment was very nice. The staff have always been so nice and the area is just beautiful. The Imatran Koski is a definite must see! We are at O’Learys and had the same waiter both trips, and he was amazing.
