Beautiful hotel, very clean, very friendly and in a great spot in the middle of everything. Couldnt have picked any better, it's in a quiet area in between the mountains and the valley
We stayed our first night at Hotel Selfoss. It is located facing the river, which was a great view to wake up to. The continental breakfast was great! Dining in the restaurant looking at the river was a perfect way to start the morning. The hotel has a modern and stylish feel to it.
We really enjoyed our stay in River aprtment. The apartment was cute, clean, and had nice little touches that made it feel welcoming. It was comfortable with plenty of space, and the location worked out really well for getting around.
Room was clean and tidy - don’t think it had a TV but I was jet lagged and wanted to sleep anyway! Staff were all friendly and helpful. There were two cute and friendly pups roaming around to greet guests as well.
Overall a very unique, beautiful, cozy place to visit in Iceland! Would highly recommend! I can tell a lot of heart and consideration went into the building of this tower, with so many lovely touches in the design. I loved looking through the photo album upstairs showing the history of this building. If it wasn't so cloudy during our visit, this place would provide incredible views of the Northern Lights with so many windows in every direction.
I want to warn light sleepers that in the winter...
We arrived at the ION hotel after 10 days of traveling the ring road of Iceland. We were in a different hotel most every night, and were a little road weary. As we came around the bend, and the hotel came into view, we were impressed by the ION's amazing architecture and cool integration into the landscape.
We entered the hotel and were largely ignored by the front desk attendant, who was on the phone for 10 minutes without so much as looking at us or acknowledging our presence.
We loved...
We drove until we were afraid hotels were going to close and this was closest.
No plan except to geocache nearby and drive on in morning.
But if we were horse people, this was perfectly situated in pleasant area with several geographical beauties to ride to/by.
Staff was awesome, but we saw them for only ten minutes. People must got to bed early or we were out of horse season, but felt we had the hotel and the entire plain to ourselves.
Sweetly spooky.
Rooms were Nordic sophisticated and...
The room was so cute and comfortable. It had a kitchen with all the appliances and kitchen utensils you could possibly need, it even had some pantry staples stocked. The bathroom was designed well, the whole room was actually. Also, I showed up after midnight, expecting to just collect my room key at the reception but an owner came out to greet me and show me to my room which was so nice of her. I highly recommend this place.
