When we stole the waitress that we ordered lobster and got shrimp, she looked at our plates and said, "no, that is lobster." I said no it is not and so did my grandson. We staying in the hand-built rustic wood cabin in the middle of blackberries [Mora] in the woods. You need a 4 wheel drive to get down the very steep access road. We left our compact rental car at a house up at the road [for a modest fee] and walked down 2km. The cabin is down a steep forest path. Didn't see evidence of wifi. It's simple and wild. Will not suit everyone, but we greatly enjoyed it.
The location was beautiful and peaceful. We would definitely stay here again. While we had some problems at checkout (they couldn't run a credit card because the staff at the desk "didn't know how"-- we had to pay in cash). I'm assuming this was an anomaly, as the rest of our stay was very enjoyable. Rooms are large and clean, although not air-conditioned, which was fine. Excellent food and caring staff. My husband and I stayed here for two nights at the end of June and it was spectacular. The food, service, activities, spa, and grounds exceeded our expectations. We were a part of the first group of rafters allowed into (and out of) the lodge following the torrential rains and at no time did we feel unsafe. This hotel was perfect while staying in Turrialba to go white river rafting on the river. Its walking distance to downtown and to the bus station (I arrived via bus from San Jose and walked to the hotel in minutes). The staff here is wonderful. Great breakfast, simple and clean rooms.
