"The room was clean and the bed and pillows comfortable. We would have rated it higher but we had problems with the shuttle pickup at the airport. We waited almost an hour and called 3 times for pickup. "
"This hotel is 3 star at best. Definately not 5 star as advertised. We stated first 2 nights in Club room & evening canapes were awful. The air conditioning did nit work properly in our room. Had to get front desk to turn on at 3:30 am since our room was so hot. The AC controls in room did not work. We had another booking for 3rd night but diwngraded to at w bed room. First room they gave us the bed was broken & sloping downhill towards head of bed. Shame on this hotel for selling this room with the broken bed. We should get a partial refhnd for all the problems we endured. Awful hotrl"
"The Kamana Lakehouse is exceptional. We felt very well taken care of our whole stay. The front desk staff was extremely accomodating, holding our bags before check in and taking them to our room and booking a taxi for an excursion. The servers and bar staff we're great as well. The food was the best we had on our entire trip to NZ. The included breakfast in the morning is completely worth it!
It's easy to get to the wharf via Uber or the bus. You can also walk to the Sunshine Bay Track nearby for an easy hike. There is a restaurant and convenience store across the street as well.
There is construction going on nearby, I was worried this would be more disruptive but it wasn't too bad. It was active (and loud) during the day. It did affect the experience in the soaking tub, so if you can, book after 6pm when the construction is done for the day."
