Cadillac Hotel

I was a little wary of this hotel based on some of the other reviews but coming from a very urban area I didn't think the reports of the abundant homeless people would be troublesome and I'm happy to say I was right. We enjoyed walking around looking at all the vendor booths and the shop next door with all the metal sculptures. The hotel front desk was very friendly and we were checked in promptly and received great instructions on where to park, wireless etc. It was a short walk to get to all the shops, pubs and restaurants along Pacfic Avenue not to mention there are some fun looking places right next to the hotel with reasonably priced drink deals. The hotel was slightly musty as previously stated in other reviews, but only because it's an old building and steps to the ocean. It was difficult to find, run down and dirty everywhere except the room.

The view from the roof is amazing. For the cost definitely amazing. Everything was great

Recently spent 6 nights there. The staff (and I suspect one was an owner or part owner) are friendly, helpful and professional. The room was nicely done (although they have a table and chair, it would be great if they add a soft chair for sitting). Very nice art gallery off the lobby adds to the cool factor. The room was very nice and clean, it looked newly renovated! The area was ok at daytime but not at night. Didn't go out after 7 pm.

The hotel is in a very nice location right on the beach with rooftop patio and friendly staff but the area does dies down after dark. The hotel's renovations have made the hotel very comfortable and clean considering the age of the building and they have an awesome rooftop patio. The […] walls are quite thin; I was able to fully understand the conversations in the other room and the forced $3 fee per night for internet regardless of whether we used it or not was not cool. This was one of the dirtiest hotels I've ever stayed in, especially for the price, plus extra for parking and for the internet if you used it or not. The furniture looked like it was from goodwill. I wouldn't let my dog walk on that carpet, no dresser, plumbing bad. To top it off it was more than a mile from the Santa Monica pier - AND - there were […] at least a hundred (not kidding) homeless people sleeping on the sidewalk just outside the door. My view was a building 3 feet away covered with pidgon poop. Find a nice place in Santa Monica, walk to the pier and have a nice dinner. The Cadillic should rate a 0. Leer más

The cadillac hotel is great for some, and terrible for others. I stayed there with some family and friends and it was both great and terrible for me, personally. I was there in light of the Rose Bowl game, but decided to see the sights of Venice, CA. My ratings are based on two separate rooms on the 4th (top) floor of the hotel. Here's what I can summarize: PROS: -Awesome […] location, right on the beach -Rooftop access for a great view -PRICE. My rates were very affordable. I cannot guarantee the same to others CONS: -Parking is an absolute NIGHTMARE. There is no guaranteed parking. Only what they suggest may be available. The Cadillac Hotel itself does not own places to park. Plan ahead for extra time to park! I spent an aggravating 30 minutes or so to work this out... -Possible smelly room. My room had a noticeable musty smell (but I got used to it soon). My brother's room didn't smell bad at all. You get what you get. -Small rooms. This can be nice or bad. The rooms have the essentials and nothing else. One or two beds in a square room with a small attached bathroom. Decent size TV, small refrigerator, small closet. Don't plan on spending much time in the room. -Noisy neighborhood. Did not bother me, but can bother others. Music is heard from the beach. Other hotel guests may be louder than usual as well. Possible smell of herbs exists as well. -They will charge you for internet access after you check out, even if you dont use it. Daily fee. Anyway, the point is, it is a great place to stay if you are with a few friends who plan to save money, experience the Venice atmosphere, and don't mind the flaws of the hotel. Had I been with just my friends, we wouldn't have minded the cons listed. In other words, NOT a good place to take the family. But not a bad hotel if you go there knowing what to expect first. The room smelled, beds were like sleeping on a box-spring, and the carpets were very stained. The complementary shampoo bottle had a hair sticking out of it and the walls were paper-thin, we could hear everything that was going on in the next room! I would not recommend this hotel to anyone!

The only good thing about this dive was customer service. Alex was extremely helpful. The other staff was friendly.

I actually liked everything about this hotel. The gal at the front desk was super friendly and helpful. We were allowed to bring our dog. Lots of cool stuff is near by (off the promenade). Damp, stained carpet. Cigarette burns on pillows. Stains all over sheets. Broken sink. Terrible smell. Should be condemned.

Hotel location very close to the sea and Ocean Promenade. No free park around the hotel except between 8pm to 8am. Very clean bathroom, ouf!! Very bad view :( Free wifi net access :))

Friendly, clean, bad side of building where you open a window and someone else is there..

Average / decent quality hotel. Noisy surroundings (street musicians, cafe music, and commercial fans), dirty front place occupied by homeless people. The Cadillac was just that a classic budget boutique kinda place to allow ample time to cruise the beach and enjoy the eclectic / arty nature of Venice Beach. Rooms were comfortable and stylish but NO A/C can be a problem for some... My g/f and I enjoyed the weekend and would be happy to come back. this hotel was a 1 star hotel. the room was small like a closet. the floor felt wet and the room stunk. to much money for this hotel. will never stay there again. parking sucked. parking cost $15 a day in a seperate lot away from hotel. not a family hotel.

Cool place, great location, friendly staff. Really liked the pool table and computers near the lobby. Would have liked to stay there for my entire stay, but I couldn't really afford too.

This hotel was in a great location. Right on the boardwalk opposite the beach. Lots of colourful characters and we hired bikes to get around. Very quiet at night but the double beds were a bit hard to get use to and not much room in our room as we shared with two others but overall very clean. The lounge downstairs was fantastic with couches, pool tables […] and internet access also coffee making facilities, lovely toilets and a room to lock the bikes up. Magnificent tiled floor, and I believe this was Charlie Chaplin's summer residence. Very art deco and we loved staying here. The hotel is on the north end of Venice beach, a stones throw from what becomes Santa Monica. But local know that there is a bright line between the two cities. Venice attracts it's own crowd and night life, so this hotel is right for you if you are cool with that. The hotel has it's original facade and updated lobby and common room. The Cadillac Hotel is very small and has all basic needs. The room has clean beds withone table and one chair. The bathroom was very clean with a walk in shower large enough for two adults. Towels are not very soft, but the beds are comfy enough to make up for it. There is no AC in the room, but with the windows open the sea breeze creates the perfect […] tempature all day and night. There are a LOT of homeless people in Venice and they make a lot of noise until midnight. The CH is perfect if you just want to have a place to shower and sleep while you are spending time at the beach. I was a little worried when we first booked the hotel. I was pleasantly surprised when I got there, the room was really clean and the staff was friendly. The only drawback was the parking situation, but it worked out ok. It was a great location to the beach!!!

Really liked the modern styling and location. In the middle of the action. Decided to return a few days later. Very pleased overall!

The hotel looks really nece but looks can be deciving it is ver small and uncofortable and the nabore hood is not reashering.

So it was pretty much as I expected. Nothin fancy, but mostly clean, excellent location on the beach, parking available. My only complaint was that the carpets should have been replaced in the renovation, they were gross, but all in all I would go back. You can't beat being right on the boardwalk for people watching and beach time.

small rooms, spartanic interior, right next to venice beach (and all its homeless "artists"). extra fees for internet (mandatory) and parking, the parking lot is kind of a joke though and you need to be early to get a free spot there. if you insist on sleeping at venice beach, go for it, otherwise keep looking.

Hotel is in a convenient location, right on Venice Beach. The hotel is nothing fancy, but is clean, secure & well-maintained. We loved being able to step right out of the hotel & on to the Boardwalk, there are lots of bars & cafes around where you can sit & soak up the sights & sounds that make this area unique!!

This was the worst Experience i have ever had with a hotel, please take this review serious cause it does happen. This travel site will not tell you about the horrible parking site for this place, which also cost you 15 dollars a day. the parking lot is so packed in you can even drive your car out, and the valet parking guy will park other cars in front […] of yours so you can not get out. you have to pay for internet every day even if you dont want to use it is is a mandatory fee, and dont believe the pictures they post on the website, the hotel looks nothing like them. The painted blue walls in the room you see on the pictures, that is the only wall they painted, the rest of the walls are a dull cream looking colors that have some cobwebs in the corners and it also looks like they havnt dusted in months, hide your stuff when you leave because the maids DO STEAL.... and the worst part about it, when they ask for a credit card when you check in to keep on file just in case of damages, that is a lie. they took out $52.20 every single day we stayed there, when i went and asked the front desk whats going on they said it was to make sure we had the money in my bank account for the parking and other fees which was ok. but i was still being charged that amount way after my bill was met, they charged my account a total of $274 while we stayed there, and they said they have no history of taking the money out, even after i showed them my account statements. I will be getting a lawyer, do yourself a favor and do not stay at this hotel, they are scammers, it happend to other guest while we were there also. there are better hotels 5 min inland more which are much nicer and actually have parking. The hotel it's self is an older hotel but has to be updated. It is right on the beach which was what we were looking for. Unfortunately there are a lot of street people in the area so it was a bit intimidating going in and out of the hotel. Staff was very friendly. I was happy with the room - neat and clean - but not so with the amenities (no kettle in the room, worse, no restaurant in the hotel!! - learnt this too late). The most disturbing thing about this stay, however, was the location, which was next to the beach but also where a lot of homeless wander. There seemed to be a surge of activity after 1 am […] every night - too much noise outside my room - the first night, somebody tried to open my room door too! I resorted to locking the door well and using ear plugs thereafter. If I hadn't prepaid for the stay I'd have changed hotels after the first night. Leer más

The hotel was just fine. The room has everything you need. There's a lot of action outside the window because of the proximity to the boardwalk but it didn't keep us up. I did however get food poisoning from the restaurant on the corner just outside of the hotel so I wouldn't recommend eating there - Candlestick bar & grill.

The hotel is recently rennovated and right on Venice Beach . The room was clean however the lights in the bath were so dim you couldnt see well. The location is good in early in the morning before the crowds - there is a restaurant called the Fig Tree very close that is open for breakfast and quite good. That is the end of the good. We had a van and […] the hotel parking could not accommodate anything but a regular car - my son had to find parking in the area and walk 10 to 15 minutes back to/from the hotel each time we wanted to go somewhere. The area gets really crowded during the day, you are constantly being asked for money by people on the street and the crowds get more sketchy in the evening. The restaurants and bars close by 10 pm so you have to walk to Main Street for any type of nightlife. Worst is they make you sign a contract so they can charge you for internet service per day on top of what you pay for the room - we had booked through a travel site and supposedly paid in full in advance and still had to pay an additional fee even though we had no computers and no need for the service. It wasnt a lot but that alone will keep me from returning. Even without the internet fee, we would not stay here again - would pick a place closer to Main Street where there is a lot going on or along the boulevard near the boardwalk area where it feels much safer to be on the beach in the evening.
