Comentado por Bruce, deAddison, TX, el dic 27, 2009
The Sunroute Plaza Shinjuku was perfect for a first time visit to Tokyo. The only downside is the distance from Narita airport, but the proximity to Shinjuku station more than makes up for the distance. Don't take the airport limosine buses--the Narita Express is cheaper and faster--also get your discount Passmo+Suica pass at the aiport as it will be your friend throughout your visit. Don't worry about finding the hotel once you get to Shinjuku as when you take any of the Southern exits from the station it is only one block away--just ask at the information booth if you are even the slightest bit confused. Shinjuku gives you quick access to travel throughout Japan--just look at the train schedules (conveniently in both Japanese and English). You will need a reservation for some trains--just ask, they almost all speak enough English. Another word about the hotel--the breakfast buffet is excellent and is only 1,400 yen (even at current dollar to yen rates a marvelous bargain). The internet service is excellent (wired ethernet and the cable is in the desk drawer). I was able to use my MagicJack to make calls to the US perfectly.

This was a great hotel: inexpensive, clean, quiet, friendly and comfortable. Others have complained about room size, but our twin-bed room was comparable to NYC and European hotels as well as others in Japan. The breakfast buffet (Japanese and Western) is excellent and though it isn't cheap it's well-priced if you want a full meal. The Shinjuko location is great to experience the size and intensity of Tokyo, and you can easily get anywhere else by metro. It's also close to the nightlife district if that's of interest to you. Ginza-area hotels would be more convenient to tourist attractions like the fish market and Kabuki, but they also have the downsides of being more touristy. One recommendation if you choose this hotel: take the airport limo that drops you directly at the hotel rather than coming in by train. The Shinjuko station is truly huge and bewildering (and my comparison is NYC) and not something I'd want to tackle for the first time with luggage and jet lag.

Everything about this hotel was wonderful. The location was unbeatable, next door to the subway entrance as well as a short walk to the train station. The range of food and shopping available within walking distance was incredible. The rooms were clean, and the staff members (who all spoke English) were very friendly and helpful. Although the hotel is located in Shinjuku, the room was very quiet. My family enjoyed it very much and will definitely use this hotel again if we go back to Tokyo.

This is a wonderful hotel. We got the upgraded room due to reviews that the rooms were small and it was a perfect size for the two of us and our 2 pieces of luggage. The location near the Shinjuku Station cannot be beat. Also the proximity to the shopping, dining, and sites is another bonus. Would absolutely stay here again. The prices per night are also a really great deal considering the average prices for hotels in Japan.

Comentado por un huésped de Hoteles.com el oct 12, 2009.
Tokyo has sooo many hotels. And most of them are pretty good. On this last extended trip, I stayed in 4 different hotels across Tokyo and this was the absolute worst. The English of the staff is horrible, the worst I've seen in Tokyo at a hotel. I honestly, don't understand the good reviews on the hotels.com site -- all I can think is that most people come on a tour of some kind and so get better treatment because they are with a group. If you are by yourself, the staff treat you like crap. They also totally understood that I had already paid via hotels.com and as a result was stuck with them. If my favorite hotel was not fully booked I would have left in spite of the hotels.com reservation. The only good think about the hotel is that it's right next to the subway and a couple blocks from Shinjuku station which is convenient. But honestly, most of Tokyo is near a station! Better hotels: Metropolitan (both Tokyo and Ikebukuro), also the Shinagawa Prince is good for the money.

The hotel is located very close to the Shinjuku Station, it's a very nice neighborhood and convenient for traveling by subway. We stayed in this hotel twice. We had very small room the first time, and it wasn't a big issue, but we had 2 big suitcase so it was very cramped in the room. Then we went to Kyoto for 2 days and we were able to leave our luggage at the hotel, which was great. When we returned we were upgraded to a bigger room that had computer and printer, however we never used it because we had our own laptop. The room was much bigger and I really liked it. Overall,I was very satisfied with the hotel and would definitely stay there again.

The double rooms were small just enough for two people. The available walking space in the room is like a "L" shape with the width of a standard door way. If you're carrying a lot of luggage it may be a problem as it can take up a lot of valuable walk in space. The check in counter has a very friendly staff and understands/speaks English. Elevators require room keys to prevent unwanted visitors as well. The location may be hard to find at first as its between larger buildings but it is just a few blocks away from the Shinjuku JR station (Exit through Southern Terrace). Don't be afraid to ask the locals either, just mention the Hotel name even if they don't speak English and they will point you to the right place. Besides just being near the subway stations, shopping areas and many food places are just around the corner as well. Very convenient.

Skip the breakfast buffet - over priced, other places in the area. There is a train to Narita. Express entrance is by Starbucks: need to get tickets at main entrance earlier (tracks 5 or 6). Happy Hotel bus stops in front of hotel. Green intiatives at hotel (!) rare for Japan. Didn't wait for elevators. No concierge - front desk doesn't do much with sights but they do give a guide. Ok information. Non smoking rooms have non smoking bedding - huge plus!

The location of this hotel in the heart of the business district of Tokyo and just across the street from Shinjuku Station, had me concerned. For the cost, I was doubtful that this hotel would be comfortable and the service good. But I was wrong. The service was great! The food was good and the beds werent' too hard by US standards. Only recommendation for fellow travelers is don't plan to arrive before 3:00 because you will have to wait in the lobby to register. Shopping within walking distance is great and there is a Starbucks and Krispy Kreme nearby :)

We stayed at the Hotel Sunroute Plaza Shinjuku August 28 to August 31st, 2009. We had a great experience. The staff was very attentive and helpful. The rooms are small but that is typical in Europe and Asia. The Shinjuku station is one block from the hotel. We took the Narita express train from the airport. Please know that this station is the busiest train station in the world!!. It took us a few trials to learn our way around as most signs are in japanese and there are several entrances to the train station. We found out we could have gotten an airport limousine bus that would drop you right at the hotel and you can get the return bus to the airport and 2 day unlimited pass for the metro much cheaper than getting them separately but you need to get it at the airport.

5 minutes from station can use the south or south terrace exits. very handy for both metro and JR lines and tourist spots can be reached within 10-30 minutes. 1 hour and 30 minutes on NEX from Narita airport. Felt very relaxed and safe the whole time i stayed there which was important as a single female traveler. Room very comfortable and had a double/queen size bed (i think) so was plenty big enough for one but may be a bit small for 2. Not much wardrobe space. Had TV with CNN in English and could for 1000 yen get a ticket to watch films as well lasts 24 hours from 1pm to 1pm, but limited to choice-there is a list provided in room. Bathroom well fitted and usual free toothbrush/paste/ soaps etc. LAN internet in room and they provided the cable as well. Had to go thorough a log-in process that meant just clicking a few buttons and this lasted up to 24 hours as well then had to re-log on. Access to a lounge open 6.30am to midnight had tv, drinks machine (tea coffee water) and 2 computers with a printer; did tend to be a wait for the computers and only allowed to use them for 20 minute slots. drink vending machines; ice machine and room film ticket machines on each floor. i did not eat breakfast in the hotel but did try the margarita pizza which was very nice! When i go back to Tokyo i intend to stay here again!

I was pleased with this hotel. It was within an 8 minute walk/stroll from the Limousine Bus (aka: airport bus) drop in front of Shinjuku Station to the hotel entrance. (Directions: Head towards the McDonalds and Citibank 'NY Times Square' looking signs. Cross the major intersection and stay on the right-hand side of the street. Walk past KFC and keep going for approximately 2 blocks. Hotel will appear in front of you towards the right. Most folks in the area seem to know where this hotel is located. I would suggest printing the hotel information in Japanese.) The room is smaller than western style hotels, but it is to be expected in Japan. I stayed in a standard double-bed room and it was the perfect size for me. However, I would have felt cramped with a 2nd person. The bathroom was fine. The bidet with the cute buttons was dreamy. The shower has a removable showerhead. The shower/tub area is not marble or porcelain, but it is a sturdy plastic type material that is just fine. The soap, shampoo, and conditioner containers are large beautiful containers located on the edge of the tub in a simple modern holder. There are no little plastic bottles to ‘steal’ from here – very economical and environmental. The hotel provides you with slippers and sleepwear. I choose to use my own sleepwear, even though nothing seemed to be wrong with theirs. The staff was very friendly, helpful and professional. This is not a hotel with a concierge and this is mentioned in the hotel description. However, the staff will gladly give you tour pamphlets, helpful suggestions and hints, a local (hotel area) map and directions to surrounding places when they are available. Their main purpose is to help guests check-in and check-out of the hotel, so remember patience when they are busy. I would suggest purchasing your return limousine bus ticket at least 1 day prior to your departure. If I decide to stay in Shinguku again, then I would stay here. Shinjuku seems to be an area mainly for young adul

Hotel Sunroute Plaza Shinjuku is a great location for travelers using public transportation. It is five minutes from Shinjuku Station. There is a 24-hour McDonalds 3 minutes away, for a cheap cup of coffee early in the morning. There is a AM/PM shop (7/11 type 24-hour convenience store) across the street. Single rooms are small, but twin room(2 beds) is very comfortable. Staff are friendly and helpful. The hotel offers a western/japanese breakfast buffet for 1,450 yen. Once we got over the initial shock of how small the room was (comparable to that of a cruise ship!), we really enjoyed this hotel because of it's fabulous location. I had never been to Tokyo before, so the room size mat the standard size there. Nonetheless the hotel did the job of providing a clean and fairly comfortable launchpad to explore Tokyo. It is in the heart of the Shinjuku district which is a truly wonderful place to get a taste for authentic Tokyo. Note that the hotel does not have a concierge to provide tourist information, though they do have a map that points out the most popular restaurants and bars.
