Deer Ridge Mountain Resort

This resort has a great view and is off the beaten track. If you are looking to relax and not go to town everyday this is the perfect place, it's about a 20 minute drive to Gatlinburg. The only thing that was a little unsettling was the decorations in the condo since some one does own it, let's just say they REALLY like black bears and clocks..

Excellent location if you have been in the Gatlinburg area before and the thought of staying in Pigeon Forge repulses you. The condos are great. Beautiful location on the side of the mountain. Get there before dark if you have never been there before. The place does not offer the standard amenities of a hotel but, everything is in the condo for you […] to prepare your own meals. Although difficult to find the first time in the dark, it was worth the trip. The reception staff was friendly, knowledgeable and helpful, and the suites were very comfortable. There were facilities, including movies, pool, sauna, steam, pool table, books all kinds of alternative activities for cold or rainy days. Also vending machines. Spectacular view of the mountains from our balcony. Very friendly and accommodating staff. We arrived after office hours and arrangements were already made and awaiting us. Will definitely return!

Awesome location, views and very clean and comfy facilities. The front desk was very helpful and sincere. Nicole may need some training, she seemed very green. She was really nice to us, but just didn't know much. Also, she said we were close to the Cosby entrance, which is true, but that entrance does not take you to the main lookout points and Cades […] Cove areas. Its a dead-end road that goes to the campground and a bunch of trailheads. We wasted a lot of time driving there and then going all the way back to the main entrance in Gatlinburg. I would definitely come back to stay here, and they also have a bunch of cabins under the Cobbly Nob name. Golf course and children's activities would be great in warmer weather. Leer más

We had a great time! It is beautiful and very family friendly. Bring your own shampoo is the only advice. they only provide complimentary soap.

Close to Gatlinburg attractions, but up in the hills. Great views, fresh air and real nice people work here! Very relaxing being out of the main strip of hotels.

Our balcony had an incredible view! The hotel was a bit out of the way, but I had no problem with that. Nice place, only problem we had was we could hear the guests above us at night when we were trying to sleep. We both typically sleep with a fan on, so that could have been one reason we had trouble. Had we brought one, it would have been perfect.

We had a great stay when we were At Deer Ridge. It was very clean. the view was beautiful. the only thing i could say that was that it was about 15 miles from Gatlinburg considering the gas but other than that I would recommend it to all my friends.

On top of the booking errors by Hotels.com, Room was too small and had old kitchen appliances. Fire alarm went off twice, at one time, no front desk/ hotel staff whom we can verify about the alarm. I has to call 911 myself. View of the smokies was awesome from outside our room, but the porch can accomodate only 2 people at a time. Though the drive up the mountain is steep and curvy, the resort was lovely. Each room has a fireplace & a balcony where you can view the mountain scenery, plus a full kitchen & living room that even has a VCR & DVD player. The decor is an outdoor-woodsy theme, complete with woodland animals in the pictures & furniture (the bed & dresser were even made […] of logs). The staff was very friendly & accommodating. In addition to the lovely view & cute rooms, there is an indoor pool, hot tub, sauna, steam room & game room, complete with movie rentals and a bin where you can purchase firewood. This resort was located farther east of Gatlinburg than we expected, but that was actually a good thing. Driving directions weren't especially clear, but once we located the turn off of S.R. 321 everything easily fell into place. Set among many beautiful mountain vistas, the Deer Ridge did not disappoint. The views were spectacular, the condo was comfortable […] and roomy, the clubhouse offered indoor pool, hot tub, sauna and, personal favorite, a steam bath. This is our 2nd time staying at Deer Ridge. Everything was perfect as usual. It's 8 miles away from the strip of Gatlinburg but if your purpose is for a relaxing vacation, this is the place to be. Their pool, sauna, jacuzzi, and steam are awesome. Could have a stronger wifi though. We will definitely stay here again.. Love this place!

You can see this resort from the main road perched on the mountain. As we were driving we were commenting about how nice that place must be and wondering how pricey it was. As we followed the directions we figured out THAT was where WE were staying! The staff were more than helpful and friendly. Nice sauna, steam-room, and hot tub for relaxing although […] they are a ways away from most of the rooms. Beautiful views and very clean. If we return to Gatlinburg this is most definitely where we will stay in the future. The only negative is that it is a ways away from everything, but the gas station/pizza parlor has excellent food and delivers on the weekends. Leer más

Deer Ridge Mountain Resort was very clean, comfortable, and the staff was friendly and helpful. We will recommend the resort to our friends and relatives and plan to stay there again as well.

I would highly recommend this resort to anyone. The atmosphere was fabulous. The rooms were very spacious & cozy at the same time. The staff made you feel right at home. You almost feel as though you are in a cabin but without the hot tub. You can't beat the price either. It is definitely cheaper than a hotel room especially if you have friends or family […] staying there. The steam room & sauna were very nice & clean. If you stay during their Fall fest, you get a good meal with Bluegrass Music (if you like that style of music). It's all compliments of the staff. The view there is magnificent. The hotel is 11 miles from Gatlinburg and there is a short cut to Pigeon Forge. Even though its out a little it is a nice and comfortable place and very scenic.

Every year my husband and I drive NORTH to enjoy the Fall. I always use Hotels.com because I believe in the reviews. After reading all the ones for Deer Ridge, I decided this is the place to be. Well the pictures and reviews did not do it justice....this place was a dream come true. Literally. We always wanted to stay on TOP of a mountain but never […] thought we could afford it. Coming into the entrance you a greated with the first of many spectacular views. There is a golf course and winding road accented with a little pond, wooden bridge and weeping willows. The first drive up the mountain, I was freaking out...one previous comment said something like the signs were not enough. I believe the directions and signs were very visable. Our condo was so cute and yes the views are incredible. Awe inspiring. The pool area was beautiful. Imagine relaxing in a pool or jacuzzi while gazing out the wall of sliding glass doors that overlook the deck and nothing but beautiful mountains as far as one can see. The staff here is so friendly and very helpful, especially when we had difficulty lighting the fire in the cozy fireplace that was in our condo. ( Another fine amenity that really came in handy on the cold nights.) THese units have everything you need to prepare meals. Even right down to the pizza cutter. This place is about a 15/20 minute scenic drive to Gatlinburg. As much as I like going into town, it was relaxing to be able to get away from the hub-bub. My husband and I have spent the last 8 years canvassing the TN/NC/VA area for a place to call our home away from home. Never before have I had such a positive experience. The stress just melted away. We plan on being returning guest for years to come. My only advice to people who have never been to Gatlinburg is to take advantage of the free trolley system. the room was great! especially for the price. The appliances were a little dated but in great owrking condition. the view was absoutly AMAZING!!! would definitely go again next year! the only thing that was a little bad was the sliding door and bathroom window didnt lock but there was a broom handle in the closet and we put it in the door every night […] just to be sure. the light over the dinning room table flickered a few times but was ok. All these little things werent much to deter us from going again though. very quick service at the front desk. even saw some wild turkeys up by the playground. the drive to town wasnt bad at all. took about 15 minutes and it was nice to go to town and be in the hustel and bustel and then be able to go back to your room in the peace and quiet of the mountains!!!!! While this is a few miles from the heart of Gatlinburg, it was very accessible. The views from the room balconies are spectacular. Rooms were neat and clean and very comfortable. Need to replace carpet, but I have no complaints. Bring your own coffee as they have a coffee maker, but do not supply packets of coffee!! With a little study of the local […] maps, you can go back ways into Pigeon Forge and avoid some of the main 441 traffic. On certain weekends, this is a god send! We were overall very pleased with this hotel/condo. We stayed in a 2/2 and it was beautifully maintained with amazing views. We would absolutely return. HOWEVER, we arrived in the middle of the night and when I called about late check in they did NOT warn us at all that we would be driving very high on narrow roads up the side of an unlit mountain. […] Also, the ad for hotels.com makes it sound like this place is much closer to downtown Gatlinburg, when really it's a ten or so minute drive (possibly a little more). We almost turned around and stayed in a motel downtown because the signage up the mountain was poor, and we had no cell/GPS reception to figure out where on earth we were going. I'm glad we kept looking and eventually made it there, but be warned, it's best to arrive during daylight! Overall though, we did really like the place and are hoping to return next year. Leer más

This was a very nice resort it was just far enough away from Gatlinburg. The only thing was don't follow mapquest for directions!! They will take you the wrong way. If you don't get directions from website, call resort they are fabulous with directions to resort!!

the hotel condo was beautiful. It was not convinient for those who have medical conditions . The hotel and surrounding grounds I would reccommend to those who are not elderly and those who have no medical concerns. I found the rooms lovely and spacious. the hotel staff was very helpful . The view from our room was awesome.

I was very pleased with the resort. Everything was well taken care of. The only thing that i didn't care for was the street that they say the address is on was very hard to find. The actual place to check in needs more signs to tell people where to go. Outside of that the place was very nice. The view was the best part of the room. Deer Ridge Mountain Resort is a vacationers delight. From our room, and especially from the balcony, the panoramic view of the Smokies was refreshing, exhilarating, awe-inspiring. The staff was friendly and accomodating. I love being near everything, but being out in the quiet of the countryside.

very quiet, wonderful place for relax. good pool and saura system. wonderful view. good for golf trip because golf course is down there. location is on middle of mountain, so drive up and down very narrow road several times.

Loved the place. Only wish it had been located a bit closer to the trails I wanted to hike, but it was a small price to pay to be away from the congestion of downtown Gatlinburg.

Had problems finding the location, GPS issues and it is more remote then you might guess. Once we got there it turned out to be quite a nice facility. It is an efficiency so no maid service, but a nice big room with a view that is worth the money.

A little outdated but beautiful view! Accidently left my wedding ring in the bathroom but they promptly mailed it to me. Great staff!

The condo was the perfect size for our family of 5. We enjoyed being on a mountain top as well. The only downfall was that we were a bit further from downtown Gatlinburg than we realized when making the reservation. This would be a great resort to visit in the Fall.

My husband and I booked a last minute getaway at Deer Ridge, we had never been and didnt really know what to expect. Upon arrival we were amazed. Our room was absolutely beautiful and the view was amazing. The pools are also very nice. We hope to return soon with our family!!!!

Pros: -The indoor pool was great -The views are amazing -Our kids (7 and 3) enjoyed the playground -The full kitchen is a plus -Very quiet -Wildlife all around Cons: -Small balconies...a little intimidating at first -Beds are the most comfortable but are "OK" -Distance from Gatlinburg may be a bit far for many -No private grill We had a great time […] and would stay here again. I consider the 'cons' to be small nuisance. There were several wasps flying around our balcony as the building structure is wooden and offered several gaps they seemed to enjoy for nesting. The wasps never bothered us but their presence was something we always watched. The balcony offers an amazing view but it's small size left us feeling a bit of anxiety the first time we stepped out. Afterwards we were comfortable sitting on the provided chairs (2 chairs and a small table provided). We stayed in building 'B' which is directly across from the playground and near the entrance of the property. We had a short walk (maybe 50 yards?) to the indoor pool. We stayed 4 days and this property was great. If we were to stay a week I'd probably consider something a little more convenient to drive into town from. Be careful with this property in the winter -- steep roads and sharp corners could prove difficult in bad weather (it's like driving to a secluded cabin rather than your typical hotel). We didn't see any bears during our stay but there were a number of ground hogs and baby geese. This is a condo - not a hotel. Keep it in mind as small things we came to expect from hotels did not apply here: no coffee (there is a coffee maker), no shampoo/conditioner, take out your own garbage, no daily housekeeping, etc. On the flipside, they do provide dishes, towels, hand soap, dishwashers, garbage bags, paper towels and a hair dryer. Pool towels are provided at the pool. We rented a crib for our stay for just a few bucks. Leer más

We got married in gatlinburg on Friday the 8th and decided to stay over the weekend. I loved the view of the Smoky Mountain Park. The room was clean and well maintained. The only problem we had was the screen door on the balcony was hard to pull close. It was a home away from home. We would come back again and recommend this resort.
