Amalfi Hotel Chicago

Estuvimos en el hotel por una semana. La habitación esta muy bien, amplia y limpia. El servicio de desayunos se sirve en cada planta, no hay un comedor para este fin. El desayuno no es muy amplio pero cumple necesidades y es de buena calidad (los donuts son buenísimos). La ubicación es muy buena, tiene el transporte publico (metro y bus) muy cerca y […] puedes ir a la Golden mile a pie si se quiere. Lo peor es el nulo trato de recepción. No no ayudaron en nada y tampoco nos aconsejaron cuando les pedimos recomendaciones. No obstante, con internet suplimos este punto débil. Descansad en Amalfi y disfrutad de Chicago. We stayed one night for a short getaway without the kids and were very pleased. The hotel and room were clean and nicely decorated and comfortable. The staff was very pleasant, as well. The rooms aren't huge, but certainly comfortable for two. The cocktail reception is a really nice bonus. We will definitely return.

the complimentary internet, evening cocktail party, and continental breakfast on each floor make this hotel a shinning star when you travel to Chicago. Don't miss the opportunity to stay here.

The only down side was the parking situation. We had to wait for a valet to take care of us.

While it was a nice hotel and the location is great, we were given a room that overlooked the lovely alley and a brick wall so we got to hear the garbage dumps being slammed shut all day and night... not to mention that cleaning service came early while we were out and still had an a couple hours before checkout and threw out my flower arrangement and […] a cake. Wonderful hotel and staff.

The room was great clean & nicely decorated. All the staff made it their job to be friendly & helpful & to make our stay very pleasant. The breakfast was conveniently located on each floor so that it was an easy beginning to a long day of sightseeing & the cookies in the room where a perfect touch after the whole day of touring around the beautiful […] city of Chicago. Very pleasant decor! Nice large room space. The service from the staff was excellent; fast checkin and our room service food was brought with lots of extras we requested with no extra charge and then breakfast right on our own level had really great choices with a lot of variety. Staff was very friendly and helpful during my stay. I liked the ease of the continental breakfast in the morning. Housekeeping did a nice job as well. The main room was fairly dominated by the bed and could possibly have benefitted from a different layout. Noise was at a minimum and the room was dark enough to appeal to my comfort level. I really loved this hotel for many reasons. Great free happy hour, location, cleanliness, style, and of course great price. However, my only concern is that the noise in the alley can make it tough to sleep on the weekends. We were on the second floor so we heard drunk people fighting both Friday and Saturday. The Amalfi was great. Most everything we wanted was in walking distance of the hotel. Hotel was clean and beds were very comfortable. The staff was very attentive; they even adjusted the heating/AC so we could turn the heat down in our unit. Happy hour and breakfast were great. Robes and slippers were provided! The rooms are comfortable and quiet. We all enjoyed the manager's reception each evening and the convenience of coffee and breakfast right on your floor is appreciated. Location is optimal - we walked every where except to and from the train station. I would highly recommend the Amalfi to anyone who wants to stay in downtown Chicago!

I stayed here for my birthday and brought my 3 toys dogs who stayed for free. I was not impressed with the lobby and the fact that the staff was always there to greet you at every turn. I prefer a little more privacy. We stayed 3 nights for New Year celebrations 2011. Room was comfortable and clean. Continental breakfast served on each floor was included in the cost of the room - great deal. Great location close to Ruths Chris steakhouse, Harry Carys, Sullivans, Smith & Walinsky steak house, and the river north bars and restaurants. Very friendly, and helpful staff. Comfortable room, but a bit small. Wonderful breakfast offered on each floor. Free happy hour. Not much in Chicago comes free, but the Amalfi Hotel is one place where you can get a good deal.

Amazing location. Great restaurants and bars. Was here for new years eve. Staff was amazing we got in at 6am and was looking to just check our luggage but they let us check in to our room early which was perfect... Will stay here again!!!

GREAT STAY.WILL GO BACK IN FEBRUARY.HAPPY HOUR WAS GREAT.

Perfect location and great price.

We chose this hotel for the price and location and enjoyed a nice stay for our mini-getaway. Our room was immaculately clean and decently sized for a downtown hotel...not huge but far from tiny. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The continental breakfast on every floor is a nice touch, but keep in mind it's not a hot breakfast. Happy hour with […] free drinks and appetizers is also a cool idea that sets the Amalfi apart from other hotels. Other reviewers have complained about noise from the alley and nearby nightclubs, but fortunately we did not experience any disturbing noises (we stayed during the week which may have made a difference). It's a solid 3-star hotel. Don't expect greatness. But for its location and free breakfast, and free wi fi, it served our needs. Small annoyances: Inconsistent car retrieval duration by valet - 1 time was 10-15 min the other 30 min; LCD TV only had analog signals and would reset to main Menu periodically for no reason; business center had only black-n-white […] printer and slow (compared to its wi fi) internet speed. I read the reviews before I booked our stay here. I'm 23 and very familiar with Chicago. I wanted to stay at a place in a good location with several amenities without compromising the quality of the hotel. The reason I chose Amalfi was because the room included internet, breakfast and an evening happy hour. Also, because of its perfect location based […] on what we wanted to do during our trip. We were able to walk to the red line and get to Chinatown easily or connect from the red line to the orange to get to Midway airport. It wasn't a far walk to Macy's and shopping either. Check-in wasn't til 3 but we called ahead and got in before noon which was awesome because I didn't want to waste any of our time on our trip. The breakfast was great and we didn't have to stop to get something to eat else where. The evening happy hour was perfect. We were able to have a few drinks with snacks and then head to our dinner reservations or whatever we had planned in the evening. I had both the Amalfi-tini and Sunset Sorrento and they both were great. My boyfriend said his mixed drink was poured perfectly. Kenny took care of us each night we were there and he was great and friendly. Oh and they still did happy hour on Christmas Eve and Christmas day if you plan on going during that time. We checked out at noon and they have an area where they can store your luggage after you check out. Our flight wasn't til 5 so we stored our luggage and got to enjoy a few more hours in Chicago. The view from our room was great and it was also clean. I really liked the cosmetic mirror in the bathroom to do my makeup haha. In case you can't tell we reallllly liked staying here! Last minute booking for family overnight stay to watch a Blackhawks game. Enjoyed the continental breakfast. Clean and comfortable room. Staff was very friendly.

We've stayed here before. Our married children have stayed and we all agree the location and quality of stay cannot be surpassed.

We stayed for 5 days - I have no problems with the hotel or location really however, felt if I were to go to Chicago again I would rather be near the loop than Michigan Ave. The shopping is rather expensive there and the location is a little further from the tourist sites. Downtown is closer to the theatres and trains and more reasonably priced shops. […] The hotel is great and I have no complaints at all they provide wi fi and a business room with computers and a printer which is so helpful if youre not travelling with a laptop. We stayed at Amalfi for our annual Christmas in Chicago (we are from the burbs) and it was an awesome stay. Great location (we went to piano bar, Howl at the Moon) which was one block away and we even walked to the Daley plaza to see the tree. Great location and a couple hours of happy hour at the hotel was very nice too. Definately recommend.

TV didnt work keep shutting off on its own. Toilet keep running. Had to call services man 10 times. Manager was suppose to call me but never did.

We stayed here due to having a concert at the house of blues. The location was great. We go valet parking because it was $2 more than any other parking. Plus the fact that you get easy in and out. Also there is free happy hour from 5:30-7:00, I think we almost got our money back on drinks, lol. Great restaurants around there. Harry Carey's right across […] the street. Cute hotel in walking distance from the Mart and Michigan Ave along with many good restaurants. Bring your own pillow, their pillows are hard as rocks. If you park a car with the hotel, plan to wait a good 30 min. or more for retrieval of your vehicle, parking rate is high!

We stayed at this hotel and the WORST experience I have ever had at any hotel in my life. We walked in and there were 3 front desk personnel that were sitting around talking to each other yet no one had the time to greet us. Once we were greeted, she was rude. The room had holes in the carpet and everything looked cheap. Then, we realized the room was […] situated above a trash incinerator so all night long we had the joy of hearing trash trucks in between hearing people in and out of the bars. I was maybe able to sleep for 3 hours that night. When we complained the next morning they told us, "you didn't request a quiet room". I booked this hotel so my wife and I could go to the christkindle market. My wife likes aveda products which the hotel offered and the hotel had free breakfeast and evening drinks, etc. It was in a great location and the reviews were very positive. Room was clean, nice location, attractions very close---easy walking distances

This was such a nice place to stay! We very much enjoyed the cocktails in the evening as it gave us the opportunity to meet some new people. The breakfast on each floor is a fantastic idea! So nice to be able to run down in your bathrobe and get something to bring back to your room-great!

Hotel offers excellent location, lovely rooms with all the conveniences one would want for a business or leisure trip, top knotch service. The breakfast spread on each floor saved us time and we enjoyed the convenience. Sufficient array of food and good coffee/tea. We didn't expect much from the happy hour but it was also excellent. Nice gathering place […] and food/drink. It was very centrally located so all our destinations for a long weekend of shopping, dining, entertainment and museums were accessible in no time flat. Besides comfort, ot provides all of the ameneties, and is in the heart of the downtown area, without all the the traffiic or congestion. Walking distance to great restaurants, pubs, and shopping. Great service!

This is a great hotel that is beautifully appointed. It's in an amazing location, close to all the action and within walking distance to everything! Absolutely loved our stay here and we will be back!

The hotel was fine...My room was on the front of the hotel and there was a lot of street noise. I could hear the conversation of people walking along the street below which woke me up as the bars let out. The room was clean and nice, but for the price I expected more. I did not have a chance to eat or go to the other hotel amenities, so I cannot comment. […] Bottom line, It was an updated Marriott.
