Slieve Donard Resort and Spa

Our room was freezing!!!! The radiator did not work in the bedroom and there was no raditor in the shower room!!!!! We had to ask at reception for an electric heater. We paid full price for the room!!! I've stayed in better for a fraction of the price!

Really enjoyed staying at your excellent and interesting hotel, which is a fine jumping off point for mountain walking in the Mournes. Particularly impressed with the outstanding breakfast and reliance on top quality local produce. The only criticism is that in a hotel of this quality and price, free internet access should be a matter of course

Thought this hotel was really good. Staff were very friendly and helpful,. The bed was especially amazing....so comfortable! Close to all amenities and right by the sea. Good restaurants around. Would highly recommend it and will definitely go back!

We enjoyed our brief stay at this hotel in Northern Ireland in its beautiful setting and countryside. Good food with excellent service. Whole experience only marred by the mix-up with our booking through the agency.

superb one of the best hotels ive ever stayed in.And being ear to christmas was becorated lovely for christmas.

Overall, I enjoyed my stay at the Slieve Donard. It was nice to be upgraded to a better room with a sea view upon arrival. The room was nice and clean and well appointed, tho the bedside lamps could be brighter for reading purposes. The biscuits with tea and coffee where very nice! The hotel itself was a little austere, lacking a bit of atmosphere and […] a bit dimly lit in the bar. Also £4 sterling for a pint of Guinness was way over-priced! Bar food at night in the main bar would also be nice to have. Staff were friendly and talkative which is always good. the breakfast is fantastic, with great quality and choice, and good hours of availability. The spa is also superb. Overall, I would recommend this hotel, but it is a little overpriced for the middle of the week at this time of year, and bar prices are too high also. Atmosphere could also be improved upon with better lighting in the bar perhaps, and some more modern decor. loved the hotel, percy french restaurant was lovely! only bad thing was that the room was very very warm and there was no air con! other than that love it!

For golfers intending to play the wonderful Royal County Down golf course, the Slieve Donard is ideally placed. Its facilities are excellent but make sure you take breakfast in your room or you will have to stand in a line to get it in the dining room.

We'd definately be back again. The Slieve Donard is a four star hotel, situated on the coast in Newcastle, County Down. Lots of free parking, stunning lobby and helpful staff. Check-in and check-out were smooth. Spa and pool area clean, modern and very relaxing. Views from the Oak Room and other dining areas and pool are stunning. Tasty, buffet style […] breakfast with good range of cereals, continental and cooked breakfasts stuffs. It is self-service, which is unusual for a 4 star hotel, but actually works well and ensures guest satisfaction with quantities of food. We stayed in Room 256 (Classic double) which was modern, extremely comfortable bed and well appointed room, with limited sea glimpses, but did not even expect this for the bargain price! All in all, a great spot to relax. The exterior and public areas are generally four star, but overall I would rate the hotel as a good 3 star, with minimal changes to make it truely 4 star. A few simple things could have made the stay perfect .... - bedroom was VERY hot and there was a duvet on the bed. A sheet on the bed (as an alternative to the duvet) or at least in the cupboard would be welcomed. - bottled water in the room as standard would be nice, especially as there was no glass in the bathroom for water to rinse after tooth brushing. - The bedroom was clean, but there were a few areas in the bathroom, namely the toilet bowl and tissue holder, which needed more thoroughly cleaned. - the windows needed cleaned. - the window sills in the hall had the same dead flies / daddy longlegs on them for 2 days in a row. Just a little more attention to cleanliness and guest comfort would be great. We only had breakfast in the hotel, but would recommend Spice Fusion, opposite the hotel (but not connected with the Slieve Donard) as a good spot for Indian Cuisine. My mother and I had booked a twin room and the room had a double bed and a single, plus a large bathroom. The bedroom was a bit dark and the view from the small window was not good but the room was otherwise very nice. I have always wanted to stay at the Slieve Donard because I had heard good reports and from the outside the hotel looks wonderful. I […] was not disappointed in any way. The staff were friendly and very helpful and everything went smoothly. We had dinner at The Percy French Restaurant in the grounds of the hotel and it too was very good. The hotel is right on an unspoilt beach and convenient to the golf course.The swimming pool is large and the changing rooms were pleasant. I would have no hesitation in recommending it. Leer más

Really enjoyed the break, we were going to a friends wedding on Sat night and went Fri night too, a it was a real treat.

Excellent hotel, on every level, service was fantastic. The hotel setting is amazing sea views, mountain views.. Room was very comfortable and clean. Spa facilities a pure luxury.

Set a short walk from the beautful Mourne Mountains this hotel really has it all. The rooms are spacious, the staff are courteous and helpful and the food is wonderful. Needed a relaxing break after working hard all year. Lovely room, good breakfast, helpful staff, scenery of newcastle lovely. Easy travelling.

myself and my husband had a lovely stay in your hotel, the service and comfort was excellent. our room was comfortable and clean. the grounds are kept to a high standard as is the spa, gym and pool area. we will definitely be back!

My husband and I were celebrating our 20th Wedding Anniversary and had a lovely relaxing break. The leisure facilities were brilliant and the view of the Mourne Mountains was out-standing. Lovely night.

Stayed in this hotel last week, beautiful hotel and the setting was amazing esp the spa. The only complaint I have was the location of our bedroom, at the back and no view except for dirty roofs!!we asked to be located to a room with a view (were willing to pay extra) but were told none available, which considering the size of the hotel and amount of […] rooms with a view and on a midweek night I found hard to believe. The hotel is very nice and we had a view of the water and the mountains. It is settled in a private little corner of town so plenty of parking and peace. Newcastle is a great little town. I would recomend staying here if you're going to be in the area!

I booked this trip and hotel as a birthday present for my boyfriend and wasn't disappointed. All the staff from reception, to the concierge and the cleaners were all very friendly and helpful. The only thing that let it down for us was the […] room, we booked a standard room and whilst it was very basic it was clean and tidy and we didn't actually spend much time in the room as there is so much to do in Newcastle and we also made the most of the facilities available in the hotel. We did find the rooms uncomfortably hot and the corridors noisy, but in the scheme of things this was a minor complaint. It was my boyfriend and my first visit to the Slieve Donard and I have to say from beginning to end our weekend was amazing! The weather was superb too which emphasised the beauty of the hotel and its surroundings. The Slieve Donard Resort and Spa is set in a wonderful location beside the Mourne Mountains. We were greeted by pleasant and efficient staff and had a lovely, clean and well-equipped room looking out onto the sea and the mountains. The bathroom facilities are excellent, even supplying robes and slippers to wear to the spa where,at no extra cost, we […] spent a lot of our time. There are sunloungers and chairs beside a pool, jacuzzi, steam room and sauna. Towels and lockers are provided in the changing rooms as are hair-dryers and showers. In fact there is everything you could wish for and everything is spotless. A huge buffet-style breakfast is provided and in the evening there is a terrific selection of well-presented and well-cooked food in the Oak Restaurant to choose from the menu. The dining room is very calm and tranquil and the service is polite and efficient. We had a very relaxing and enjoyable stay at the Slieve Donard and are looking forward to returning later on this year. Leer más
