Broadway Mansions Hotel

The hotel is from beginning of 1900, so you can feel the history, which also contributes to the little bit worn down feeling of the hotel. The staff were not sooo helpful, but all in all it was great value for the money and the location right next to the bund is great

We really enjoyed our stay at the Broadway Mansions. We received a 35% discount by making reservations a month in advance. The river view executive room upgrade was an excellent choice. The views from the room are spectacular of Pudong, river ship traffic and the Bund, especially at night. The breakfast buffet was very good. General manager , Steven, […] went out of his way to ensure that we had a comfortable stay. The bridge directly below the hotel was the site of many wedding couples getting their pictures taken with the river in the background. If you have the time book a one day trip to beautiful Hangzhou. The hotel is in an ideal location for site seeing. It is at the North of the river walk and away from the major bustle of the city. The rooms are good, clean and well appointed. The only miss givings for this hotel is the restuarants, the breakfast is totally dis-organized and while we were there you had to be early to ensure a selection at the buffet. I had read some negitive reviews about this hotel but decided to give it a shot. So glad I did! The service was good. The room was very comfortable. I loved the little details. They provided everything you would need. My only complaints were that I didn't have sign on information for internet in the room (which you pay for) and that my roomservice card […] for breakfast was not picked up so I had to eat at the buffet in the morning. So I used the internet in the business center (it's only a few cents for five minutes) and the buffet actualy worked out because I could blend the Chinese with the Western and get exactly what I wanted. As far as the staff speaking English. They speak enough for you to get what you want and need. Just remember you are traveling in China, and no matter what foreign country you are a guest in there will be a language barrier... yet always ways to work poliety around it. Leer más

Wonderful and thoughtful staff. Very convenient location. .. Room is spacious clean and had a very nice city view. Overall extremely satisfied.

Great location right on the river across from the Pudong area, and great place to walk into the Bund. Hotel staff was friendly and helpful when booking tours, getting taxis, etc. Hotel had a nice ambiance as being built in the 1930s. Room was clean, although small. If you want a new, modern hotel, this would not be the place to stay.

i had booked 4 nights in a deluxe river view rooms and paid in advance, but when i arrived the room i was given had no river view but rather looked into a brick wall so l asked to be moved to a riverveiw room and was down graded to a room which was not deluxe but had a view of the river from a small window which was like looking out of a toilet window, […] one the second night i complaned again and was given the correct room i should have had origanally but feel i was ripped off for two nights is a small dingy corner room when i had paid for deluxe, before i arrived in Shanghai i spent 4 days in Istanbul and the service and people at the hotel were great and very welcoming unfortunatly that can't be said of the welcome or service here as when i went down to reception and complained about the veiw not being and expected they laughed and made fun of me in chinese thinking i didn't understand what they were saying, l have travelled all over the world, Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, Srilanka, Italy, Belgeim, canada newzeland and the uk and to be honest am very disapoineed with the service i got in this hotel . your sencerly joe Leer más

Just a few minutes gentle stroll from Shanghai's famous Bund district with its Art Deco 30's buildings along the river and the futuristic financial area, Broadway Mansions is a stunning throwback to the days of 30's elegance where one can sink into the lap of luxury after a long day of shopping, haggling, sightseeing and exploring in Shanghai's fascinating […] broadways and back alleys. Marble en suite bathrooms with all the requirements for relaxation and recovery along with a giant bed to sink into provide all one needs. The only quibble might be the view from the window back across a less salubrious area but given its location this matters little. Staff, impeccably dressed with excellent social and communication skills lacked just one thing, a smile but on every other count preformed flawlessly. All was great except for condition of bathroom. Location was excellent walking distance to Bund, but not close to metro. Taxis are very affordable so this was not really an issue. Hotel breakfast was pricy so did not try. Would have been about $75 for 3 persons. Subway and Boost are only 5 minutes walk at the Bund. Great hotel.

Loved the location. Beds in China are hard. Broadway Mansion is no exception. Staff is very helpful and courteous .

We really enjoyed staying in this hotel, and its architecture and decor gave it the feel of old Shanghai. It is centrally located at the (north end?) of the Bund, making it easy walking distance to the Metro and Nanjing Street. I recommend you book a room with breakfast. We ended up having to spend an extra night, and the hotels.com price was cheaper than the price we negotiated on site. (Ironic that we used the free internet from our room to book another night). The hotel was in a nice location and the renovations were good, but the carpet was in bad condition. Otherwise, the hotel was very nice and a good price. I would recommend it. The breakfast was good, but the dinner meal was not so good and the service was mediocre, but I think our servers were brand new.

The hotel was great and the Bund was a short walk across the bridge. Nanjing Road was fairly close by as well. The nearest subway stop is on Nanjing which is about a 15 minute walk. I would stay here again.

An historic hotel, with an outstanding view of the Bund. Location is satisfactory if you intend to visit old and new (Pudong) Shanghai. Staff very friendly, and attentive to detail.

superb experience. great staff. wonderful services. well maintained. sufficient breakfast. historical significance. The only thing is not very close to the subway station.

Outside and surrounding area is poor. Not much to do within walking distance. This may change after expo 2010, as there is a new river walk being slated for the area across the bridge from the hotel. The room was tiny, but did have a walk in shower. The carpet was disgusting. Thank goodness for the free slippers that Chinese hotels provide.

Air did not work first night. Took 2 request to frount desk. Maid finaly contacted someone to get the propblem corrected.

I have stayed at this hotel for 5 nights. The hotel looks old from outside(doesn't look like the photo they posted here), but inside is a little better. The hotel is hard to find, not many taxi drivers know the place since it's on a very small street, and the street is dusty and crowded.

I was a bit nervous from the exterior appearance of the hotel. However, the lobby restaurant and rooms were modern and clean, very nice! Well worth the price. The parking garage is inconvenient but not an issue with most folks. There is still a lot of construction going on in the surrounding neighborhood but that should be completed within this year. […] The Bund is also under construction currently, a real downer. Just make sure you get the room facing south. We at first got a riverview room at one of the corners. It was smaller and the view was partially obstructed, compared to a room we later switched to.

Broadway Mansions is a character hotel in which the rooms belie the old and somewhat austere appearance of the architecture. We were upgraded to a better room on the 15th floor with two balconies with great views over the city.

Excellent location, great views from the river facing room, good choice at breakfast, well managed hotel with very helpful English speaking staff. They tried to accommodate all our requests and were always very helpful.

There are several important issues with this hotel: - The location is poor. In particular, there's a LOT of construction going on outside the hotel. I was in the 15th floor and I could still hear a lot of noise as early at 7am, including weekends. - The room was stinky. - Solicitation for prostitution, both inside and outside the hotel.

We stayed at the Broadway Mansions middle of March 2009, upon arrival at the Hotel area the taxi driver found getting to the entrance very difficult due to the road improvements all around the hotel. The road works continued 24 hours a day, also due to the bridge that connects the Bund to the Hotel being closed finding your way around the back streets […] was difficult and dangerous.We were advised that the road works would continue until April 2009. We managed to sort our route to the Bund out after several attempts and we were ok after that. Upon arrival at the Hotel the staff were very helpfull and we were given a free upgrade to Executive grade room which was a larger room overlooking the Bund on the 16th Floor, a view from another plantet at night.The Hotel was spotlessly clean and all the staff could not do enough for you. We also ate at the Hotel one night and again the food was excellent and the service was top class. We would stay at the Broadway Mansions again but only after April when all the roadworks would have been finished.Please also don`t be put off by the outside appearance of the Hotel as the inside is 1st class. Our room with a kingsize bed was a very large corner room, probably twice the size of our friends' rooms who had queen beds. Even though we had a city view rather than river view, we had a lovely view of the "creek" which is small river size and lights of the city at night. Room 926. The beds are hard, but we slept well and quiet. Good size bathroom […] with separate tub from shower. Staff was always very helpful and friendly. Taxis always available and inexpensive by most large city standards. We visited a canal town an hour away via taxi for $40 US. He waited 3 hours for us, then with traffic took 2 hours to return. The hotel staff made the arrangements for us with the taxi. Only down side is the construction on the bridge which makes walking to the Bund a little inconvenient. We booked with 3 other couples. All liked the location to the Bund. Ask for a King size bed and the room will be larger. Room sizes vary considerably. Internet is relatively expensive and at an additional charge as is breakfast. Staff very helpful. English is not the best, but someone eventually surfaces to get questions answered. In China always get […] a hotel card in Chinese for the return Taxi driver and have the Hotel write out in Chinese where you want to go to avoid confusion, since most taxi drivers had very limited English. 上海マラソンに参加する為に、宿泊しました。スタート地点であるバンドにとても近く、立地は最高です。夜も以外と静かで、よく眠れました。まさに上海の歴史をみてきたオールドホテルで、いい気分に浸れました。ちょっと暖房が弱かったかな？スタッフの態度はとてもよかったです。

Das Hotel hat zweifellos schon bessere Tage gesehen. Es wurde aber gut renoviert. Möbel und Betten sind gut, Betten sehr gut, was wirklich etwas wert ist in China. Zimmergrößen variieren. Was wirklich zu bemängeln ist, ist das Frühstück. Nicht unbedingt von der Speisenauswahl her - es wird sowohl chinesisch als auch international angeboten. Aber das […] Personal ist sowas von langsam und desinteressiert, dieses gemächliche Schlurfen statt gehen....Punkt 10 Uhr ist "last call", das bedeutet, dass man sich schnellstens noch alles vom Buffet zusammenraffen muss, was man haben möchte, ungeachtet dessen ob es dann kalt wird ode nicht. Nachgelegt wird nicht bis zum Ende der Frühstückszeit. Wenn dann um 10 Uhr das Personal aus der Küche kommt - diese Schürzen hätte man lieber nicht sehen wollen. Fünf Sterne sind es keinesfalls, eher 3 bis 4. Wie gesagt, die Zimmer sind gut , kann allerdings nur den Executivebereich beurteilen. Das wirklich ausschlaggebende sollte die Lage sein - und wer nicht lange schlafen möchte kommt auch mit dem Frühstück gut zurecht. Englisch ist wie fast überall in China ein Problem, an der Rezeption versteht man sehr gut, im Frühstücksservice überhaupt nicht. Aber das ist eigentlich überall so, es wertet dieses Hotel weder auf noch ab. Preis-Leistungsverhältnis stimmt wenn man die ausgezeichnete Lage berücksichtigt. Leer más

酒店外觀舊, 但內里的裝飾很好, 離外灘很近,價錢也合理, 房間也很干凈漂亮景觀也很漂亮, 員工也很有禮貌, 贊一下門口接待員很主動和禮貌 旁邊的上海早晨餐廳很漂亮, 一定要去一下 這酒店不足之處在於上網不太方便, 離地鐵站要走約20分鐘, 早上時候比較吵. 但整體來說很好, 下次會再入住

Ho scelto di nuovo questo 4 stelle per la sua posizione strategica , davvero notevole , ai margini del Bund e di fronte a Pudong.Lo consiglierei proprio per questa prerogativa , perchè poi per qualità dei servizi presenta sicuramente problemi. 我住行政房, 有免費的internet, 有線的網路速度很慢, 無線的基本上無法使用, 因此無法以手機上網.

위치나 시설면에서 최고였습니다. 호텔에서 바로 동방명주가 보이기 때문에 상해에 와있다는게 실감나더군요. 추가로, 호텔 바로옆에 조그만 Pub이 있어 좋았습니다.
