Best Western Plus Gateway Hotel Santa Monica

Hotel muy comodo y muy bien ubicado, servicio de wifi excelente, atencion del personal muy buena, ubicación perfecta a dos millas del pier santa monica...me fui caminando un par veces y las calles muy seguras aunque poco iluminadas en horas de la noche, en general me parecio un buen hotal y me quedaría nuevamente en el.

La habitación del hotel estaba muy bien y el personal que se encargaba de su limpieza era muy amable. Otro punto a favor del hotel es el aparcamiento gratuito. Sin embargo a diferencia de otros hoteles Best Western, este hotel no incluye el desayuno. Por otro lado conviene saber que está muy retirado de la playa. Si se tiene coche no dudar en cogerlo porque en second street (desde Santa Monica Boulevard hasta pasada la calle Arizona) hay muchos garajes públicos con un montón de plazas y se paga poco. Ademas al lado de esos aparcamientos está el Bar el Pintxo. La comida esta buenisima y la decoracion del bar es 100% española. Good comfortable hotel in the middle of town near all stores, restaurants, etc.

I booked this hotel knowing we were hardly going to spend any time there. Free parking, free wi-fi and easy access were other reasons. The hotel is pretty banged up. Looks like a lot of deferred maintenence. Housekeeping was not good about keeping their carts out of the walkways and they knocked on our door early, around 9:00. Our air conditioner was […] LOUD. With all the traffic noise outside and a stuffy room, we couldn't exactly shut if off. But the front desk was friendly and efficient. I enjoyed my stay here. It was a little pricey considering there was no breakfast (IHOP next door though). This place was really just a place to spend the night, but because this was my first time in Santa Monica. Considering the hotel was about a mile and half away from the pier, the neigborhood seemed very nice, safe and clean and I found out later […] that there is a Starlite (LA bus tour) that stops at this location in case you want to take a tourist trip of LA, the price was actually spot on. I would stay here again. Room was small, but very comfortable. I was on the 4th floor and shared the balcony with other rooms. I also had coffee in the room which was nice. Fine hotel. Trouble with wifi which was extremely important to us.. Seems like we were connected to a Wifi at another BW very far away. Spent hours trying to get good service. No reason why you can not provide coffee and muffins in the a.m.( Add a bite to the coffee you provide in room online I had difficulty , and actually was unable to enter our Best […] Western # for points. Did we lose out on points? I may stay there again. We have stayed at many BW's in Europe as well as USA. because you usually do a good job at a reasonable price. there was a bit of street noise on Friday night but we liked being able to open the window with it closed the noise would have decreased.

This was worth the drive down from San Luis Obispo. I was able to get to the Bergamot Station Art Galleries nearby without a problem. I was satisfied with this hotel. They should change the batteries on the remotes. The free Wifi was a bit slow.

The manager called me and confirmed that there was a mold problem in the bath of the room I complained about in a separate review here. He apologized and offered full restitution. I declined saying only one night of redress was warranted. He promised to send me a check and it arrived last week. Hotels.Com was nice enough to send me an update link so […] I could post this. Wow! My wife and I had an amazing time in Santa Monica ! The hotel is close to the pier and situated right on Santa Monica Boulevard! Our rooms were clean and confortable!

An older hotel, yet well maintained rooms. Very friendly staff and ideal location to promenade and downtown LA.

Good hotel,get in quick will be the first to book out late afternoon for the economy traveller close to Newark Airport....

Hotel was clean and comfortable. For the price in Santa Monica it was nice. We had free parking which made it even more affordable. Wish it had been a little closer to the things we wanted to go to but we had a car so it was okay.

Too noisy but hotel helpful about changing my room. Poor lighting in bathroom. Blanket was paper thin - not comfortable. Staff was pleasant. Room was clean.

The hotel was excellent..The.location just minutes from Santa Monica pier and 3rd St promenade and situated relatively close to major highways..An ideal location. Hotel was clean, functional and up-to-date. Free parking and great location an absolute plus. iHOP within the hotel a terrific convenience factor. Entire staff was highly professional and courteous. Very highly recommend.

Rooms are adequate, location is quite good, plenty of food/entertainment options close by, free parking is an increasingly rare perk. Only real con is that the exercise room is a shambles. As Aussie travelers we're picky - but, staff were very helpful and obliging and the iHOP next door for meals is well placed. Rooms were clean with all the amenities you expect. We had a ground floor room next to the laundry and were expecting all sorts of early mayhem - simply did not happen; slept very soundly in a very comfortable king-bed. Good "Big Blue Bus" public transport, easy to negotiate, a stop virtually right outside the hotel door and amazingly cheap. Would be happy to stay there again. An average 3 star hotel. Beds OK, shower, fridge, safe deposit box, tv, internet, parking garage: everything we expected. Breakfast not included, or even possible to include. Friendly staff. This hotel is located minutes away from the Santa Monica Downtown. The hotel provides free shuttle service and it is highly convenient. Hugo, the driver is extremely friendly and gallant. IHOP the family restaurant is co-located next to the hotel. If you are hungry, you can always pop in there for a nice hot meal with friendly service.

Very comfortable for 2 adults and 2 teenagers. Would stay there again.

Some of the most helpful and friendly service I've ever experienced anywhere in the world. I would rate this a 5+ based on service alone. Free parking, which you can't take for granted in L.A. Location is pretty good, about a 10 min. ($7 taxi) ride from the pier; walking distance but that's a very boring 20-block walk and not recommended. Drawbacks: […] the IHOP is only open to 10:00-11:00 p.m. and the 20% discount offered by the hotel is not available until after noon. Biggest concern: the beds are way too soft. Small hotel but nice location. Rooms are clean however there is no room serive and the IHOP below closes early if you are a night person. One negative thing -- the maid and cleaning crew use the same elevator as the guest and it was not pleasant to ride it with garbage and wet pails

My father was having surgery at UCLA in Santa Monica and this hotel was perfectly situated so I didn't have to rent a car, merely walk the 4 blocks. It was a good quality best western with an IHOP attached. Staff was very nice and accommodating.

The staff could not be faulted on their friendliness and willingness to assist guests. The room was extremely clean and comfortable, and compared to the lobby and corridors, looked like it has been fairly recently refurbished. The windows were soundproofed which cut out traffic noise considerably - it was only when I opened a window to get fresh air […] was I subjected to the loud traffic noise outside on a very busy street. The hotel is on a corner which made matters worse. There is Whole Foods about 15 mins away on foot, otherwise there is an IHOP beside the hotel. The hotel issues vouchers for a 20% discount from IHOP. It also runs a free shuttle service to the shopping center (on the hour but you need to call/reserve in advance). The price is good for Santa Monica and the room was nicely updated even if the outside of the hotel didn't feel that way. The area felt self and was a close drive to the action on third street. Don't expect a view from the room.

We have stayed at this location several times now as it is nearby our daughter. It is convenience to all we need and price is reasonable given the beach town. Will probably stay there again.

Good accomodations at modest rates in an otherwise expensive city. Parking downstairs is great - nighttime traffic noise less so. Sat in the lobby armchairs reading while waiting for others to come. The staff were friendly and helpful but this hotel is quite a distance from the beach/ pier/ shopping area. The hotel run a very useful shuttle which drops off and collects every hour up to 8pm. The decor of the hotel lokked a little tired but the room was clean and large

Hotel was older. No breakfast but had an IHOP next door. Far from the beach but the price was right for this area. Had a loud exhaust fan, should have complained and asked for a new room.

Nice hotel. Minutes to beach and 3rd Steet shopping promenade. Quietest air-condition unit I have ever had in a hotel room. IHop next door was great for breakfast and open late. Well worth the price.

Clean, affordable, safe place to stay in Santa Monica. Hotel staff helpful, location and parking convenient. Only downside was noise in my room, located on street side of bldg.

I stayed here about 6 months ago and they upgraded their bedding. The bathtub, wall around the bathtub/shower and the shower curtain/rod was all new. The shampoo, conditioner, and lotion they provided was good. Complimentary WIFI and covered parking is also a plus.

Hotel and staff great, we asked for a quiet room and it was fine. The hotel shuttle back and forth to Santa Monica beach and shops was needed and worked out very well, available every hour on the hour.
