Mendocino Hotel-garden Suites

The hotel lobby is elegant and comfortable for drinks by the fire, we had a delicious breakfast in the garden room with excellent service. Reception desk could be more welcoming. We stayed in a Luxury Garden Suite that definitely needed updating in bedding, drapery, furniture, sinks were cracked, wallpaper peeling. This hotel is a beautiful, quaint historic hotel with wonderful views of the ocean and gardens.

A nice old fashion lobby and rather pretty room does not make up for the fact that the bed was worn out so we had to grab hold not to fall out of bed. Otherwise nice location and good service at reception

Great location within view and earshot of the ocean. Unfortunately the hotel felt compelled to offer live entertainment in the restaurant below until 11PM. Then we listened to the departing boisterous drunks hoot and howl in the street until midnight. Our neighbors in the next room talked and smoked on the common balcony which waffed past our lovely […] french doors we had left open to enjoy the ocean sounds and cool air. Walls must be thin as we heard their entire not so private conversation. Room was very small with no space for our small roll on luggage. It did offer a beautiful armoir however with bathrobes. Nice touch. Queen bed was very comfortable. Our share bathroom was conveniently located across hallway but one of the guests had not been considerate and left it in a nasty "half filled greywater tub with wet soggy towels on floor" state. Front desk was very polite and quick to resolve the problem after we mentioned it to them. In summary, the hotel is authentic and charming with a wonderful location by the ocean park. We felt the staff was friendly, polite and efficient. Overall, it was a fair value for the experience. We understand the hotel cannot realistically be responsible for noisy, inconsiderate people. What we don't understand is why they would desire to drive to such a tranquil and blesssed location just to party it down. Don't we have big cities for that purpose? Leer más

This hotel is a good place for SINGLE TRAVELERS & COUPLES ONLY who are loking for a nice quiet place stay in this town. The staff is friendly & the lobby is nice & cozy & the food is good. HOWEVER, the rooms are very small, there is NO T.V.( so bing something to entertain yourself if your gonna be in your room at night), the walls are paper thin, & […] everything but a couple of places to eat closes down by 7pm. So if your trying to GET AWAY FROM IT ALL, then this is a nice inexpensive place to stay in this town. Leer más

The location of the hotel is very nice but room are very small and not confortable. For that price I would have expected more.

Only positive there was an ocean view, do spend the extra ten dollars for private bath, don't go on a Friday or Saturday night as there were fights and screaming in the street from the adjacent bar at 2 to 3 am in the morning. This was truly an amazing place - wonderful view, best location, privacy, all the comforts of hotel with excellent restaurant and bar. One of our favorite trips!

The location is at the center of Mendocino activities. The restaurant at the hotel is excellent. The gardens are well maintained and contribute to the overall ambiance, which is lovely. This was our 5th or 6th trip. We hope to go back.

THE ROOMS ARE LIKE PRISON CELLS

Looking at the pictures, I was expecting a little more but overall I am not disappointed. We arrived around 6:30pm (dinner time), and needed to wait 10 minutes before someone help us to check in. However, the hotel is very nice at a great location. The balcony around, accessible from our room, allows us to sit on the deck with frontal view of the sea […] and the main street. The mattress was not very comfortable (too small and too soft). We ate at the restaurant, nice settings, nice meal but it would have been nice to have been served some vegetable with the dish. Clueless Check-in people seem poorly informed about the Hotel, and Mendocino in general. The hotel charges a hefty price, but the service does not live up to expectations. The location is quite good for walking around the town, though, and it is worth a visit to sewe the Victorian influenced lobby.

It is the perfect location in downtown Mendocino. We booked a room with the 'shared bath' so we had to walk down the hall for the bathroom but never waited once to use it. The gardens on the property were a favorite of the wife. Overall very convenient and well worth the money

Fabulous breakfast,nice people

service was excellant . great little town to visit if you are looking to get away from crowds and just want to relax for a few days . plenty of things to do without having to get in your car and drive.

Hotel room we stayed in was a "garden room". It was super quite and the gardens were pretty. The room need some repair especially in the shower. Overall we got what we paid for.

Authentic. You really feel like you've gone back to the 19th century (with the addition of TV's and electric lights). Great service and great decor. You'll love it.

The hotel was a step back in time. The antiques, food, service were all amazing old world charm...The Staff was extremely accommodating, the upgrade is the route to go. The Owner of the Hotel actually came down at dinner time and spoke with his guests. We had stayed there 27 years ago by accident -- it's a long story and don't have time to tell it now -- and we remembered it lovingly. Had an opportunity to revisit Mendocino so, of course, we chose to stay there again. This time we were put in a garden suite not the main hotel and they upgraded us to one with a fireplace which was lovely. The hotel […] itself is very old but beautifully maintained. We had lunch at the hotel but not dinner. It was very tasty but service was rather slow considering it was after the lunch rush. Likewise, checking into our room was a little slow but made up for by the upgrade. We didn't want a full breakfast. They offer just coffee that can be self-served and taken in the lounge area. We asked if we could have Toast with our coffee to served in front of the roaring fire and they obliged even though it was not too usual. We thought that very gracious...and the Front Desk people were very helpful with our evening activities. So, all in all,if you want charming and old-fashioned with everything moving at a leisurely pace, this is the hotel for you. Leer más

Zum zweiten mal in diesem Hotel abgestiegen und wiederum hoch zufrieden. Einmalige Lage, grossartige Küstensicht, wunderschöne Einrichtungen und sehr zuvorkommendes, freundliches Personal. Zudem hervorragend diniert und gefrühstückt mit sehr aufmerksamemService, ohne jeglichen USA-üblichen Zeitdruck. Vorbehaltlos zu empfehlen

Das Hotel entspricht u.E. nicht heutigen Standards und der Ort Mendocino lebt aus unserer Sicht nur von einem Namen aus einem Song. Wir konnten nichts wirklich Sehenswertes entdecken.

Zimmer sowie bar und Restaurant in diesem Hotel sind super sauber, gemütlich eingerichtet. Der victorianische Stiel ist wirklich beeindruckend. Mendocino ist ein sehr gemütliches Dorf voller kleiner Geschäfte. Die Umgebung ist wunderschön, Wälder, Brandungen und Meer soweit das Auge reicht. Insgesamt lässt sich nur gutes über dieses Hotel sagen.

Mendocino Hotel-garden Suites ist ein Hotel mit viktorianischem Charme und außerordentlich freundlichem Personal. Das Essen war gut und wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt.
