Everything was great Except: 1. The hotel doesn't have much beach area and at this time of year (Nov), all the beach area is under wave and not accessible. 2. It takes 5-10 minutes to get hot water in the shower for a 5 minute shower 3. We had an electricity outage for about 3 hours on one of the days The good: 1. Clean rooms, elegant decoration 2. We didn't have any security issues 3. Personnel was very courteous

We upgraded to an ocean view, definitively worth it! The view is breathtaking. The rooms are spacious with modern decorations but the beds are uncomfortable, or at least too hard for my taste. The bathroom was ok; modern but not five stars. The vanity space was less than what I would’ve preferred and the shower had curtains instead of glass doors (no tub). The pool was nice with plenty of beds/chairs available (the hotel was not crowded). We did not eat at the hotel but ate at nearby restaurants…plenty of options. The service was good. Our only complaint is the noise from the hotel next door. Our room was so close and their activities so loud that we could watch their nightly shows (movies, dancers, etc.). We did not request to be moved to another room because my husband didn’t want to (we had unpacked already) so he just put pillows under the door. If you want peace and quiet before 11:30 pm do not stay in room 1402 or any other room that faces the pool of the next door hotel. Overall, we had a great time and the facilities were great for the money we paid.

We enjoyed our stay and the room was great!!!

Everything was really cool up until the point when me and my friend came in late along with other groups but me and my guess were the only ones stopped at the door to see if we were staying there. a larger group walked right pass as we were held up at the door.

My brother and I had been traveling in Mexico for about a week and had a one-night stay at the Avalon Grand Cancun on the last night of our trip. The room was much better than we expected for the price we paid. The shower was the best one we'd had during our travels. While we did not have a chance to use the pools, they looked lovely. On the downside, there is no beach at this hotel, no elevators (would not recommend this location for people who cannot handle stairs very well), and the fitness center has very limited hours. I believe it does not open until 9 am and closes at 6 pm, not very helpful hours for people who want to work out before or after a packed vacation day.

The hotel facilities were very clean and the staff was very friendly. However, there was no beach access and the music was loud at the pool - they would turn the music down when asked. We also enjoyed spending time at the 2 other Avalon hotels. One was only a few hotels down from the Grand and had beach access and no music at the pool with a swim up bar. The hotel on the Island was very quiet and enjoyable too.

I liked the suite-like rooms. They were quite comfortable. The staff at the buffet restaurant really out-did themselves to take care of us. The bathrooms had no fans or windows, but the balcony made up for it. The one thing I didn't like was the fact that there were no elevators and our rooms were on the fourth floor in a winding stairway that led to the tower. The view was nice, but there was a little bit of an eyesore next door. There was an abandoned home next door remnant of one of the latest hurricanes.

This motel is not for senors,it has no elevators. The Bed was hard. I was dissapointed that on my last day I couldn't get hotel transportation to the airport because I hadn't made resevation the day before. The food was good.And the staff was friendly.

Overall, very nice, walking distance for many restaurants - Be Sure to take the Jungle Boat Tour - snorkel (even for beginners) in waters so clear and with such colorful fish you'll ever see! Hotel has stairs only and our shins and calves were croaking by the end of the stay. Beach access is a short two block walk, very beautiful ocean view.

Hotel the hotel had way too many rules. they shut the pool/hot tub down at 11:00. no one in with out a wrist band. that means if you meet someone and want to bring them back to your hotel for a drink/swim etc. NO CAN DO. They charge $50 if you lose your wrist band or it breaks. you have to wear that thing the entire time. Beach No Beach Access! i requested 2nd floor, ocean side, no smoking. got 3rd floor, lagoon side, smoking. but i think that is on Hotels.com

1. Lots of stairs to get to your room without elevator. 2. Can't go to the beach when the tide is high because there is no beach left in front of the building. 3. Personnel did not respond two from three specific requests.

I understand what people mean when they say the service is poor at this hotel. Many of the employees don't speak good english and the hotel has very poor housekeeping. Next time I go down, we will definitley stay somewhere else, the ME by Melia looked very nice, and if you're going for spring break some where closer to Senor Frogs would be much better so you don't have to worry about getting a cab or taking the bus.

Very nice hotel. Great service,very clean,friendly staff.Great entertainment and music around the pool with Manual and Alex.Restaurants,bars and shopping close by.I would recommend this hotel highly.

Our stay was great!, great location, great included breakfast, always felt safe, great view of the ocean. One of the best "values" I have had in a long time.

This hotel is in the category of "all inclusive" but it really isn't. We were only given breakfast coupon's and you had to eat at a certain time. Also the gym dosn't open until 9:00am so for those who are early risers.....not good. You get coffee for your room the first day you check in and then you have to pay for it. There is NO coffee in the lobby, etc. No wireless internet access, so if you want to use the internet you have to pay to use it and only during permitted hours. Oh and in our room the ceiling fan clicked and the floors are tile and you can HEAR EVERYTHING from people walking down the hall to people in the next room flushing the toilet. I had to buy earplugs just to be able to kind of sleep. HIGHLY DISAPOINTED!!!

I received an upgrade and it was excellent. I had a suite with a huge balcony.

We reserved four rooms. Only two were what they were suppossed to be. The other one was a bed with a fold out couch. The other one was actually bigger, but to get to it you had to go down one flight of stairs and up three flights. There was no elevator to most of the hotel. I had to carry a 28 lb child up and down 4 flights of stairs. The beach was not safe for small children. The railing was something that the kids could fall down to the rocks on the beach. A big storm came in and then what little there was of a beach closed, so all you could do was swim in a freezing pool. The hotel looks good on the outside, but it is deceiving. I will never go back to this hotel. If you have small kids find a hotel that has no waves so you can play on the beach without feeling like your baby is going to be swept away.

The room was very nice. The bathroom was large with an oversized shower. Well maintained and lots of open space. The room had extra seats and a table but was not cluttered. The only downfall is the bed was hard as a rock. The restaurants had good food but a very limited menu. Downstairs there is a large sportsbar good for large groups for dancing and hanging out. This is one of the smaller hotels on the strip but has a nice design and good views. I would not recomend this hotel for families. I would recomend for springbreakers looking for a good time as well as a nice hotel. Also, honeymooners and outgoing people who like music and like to stay active. The pool area has music playing all day as well as an activities coordinator keeping the pool area entertained. If you visit this hotel at a busy time of year, be sure to get down to the pool area and beach early as they have limited seating.

Overall the hotel was very nice and the bottle of champaign to our room was a nice touch. The staff was very considerate. Though everyone was very helpful, we really needed an earlier checkin than 3:00. After flying and getting into Cancun at 9:00 in the morning, we had nowhere to go. We tried to early check in at 12:00 and was told that the room would not be ready until 2:30. I was even willing to pay extra. The morning we left there was no hot water and we pre-asked that a bell boy pick up our luggage and called one again the morning of our leave. One never showed and we had to carry our bags ourselves down three flights of stairs. I would stay at this hotel again but would plan my flight around their schedule. The hotel was near some nice restaurants and stores and made it convenient for shopping and eating.

We had a great time at this hotel. Most of the staff was very friendly, Especially the night manager at Kelley's Bar. The food was great and our only complaint was the coffee was never hot. But hey, the margaritas were great.
