The bed was comfortable, the room was a little bit shabby, the location was great and wouldnt have expected much more for the price that we paid.

Excellent value, clean and well resourced room, right beside lots of tourist destinations and handy for the Lanes. Have been twice, highly recommend. And Brighton has lots to see and do. Very vibrant and Bohemian.

Royal Albion Hotel is in such a great location and so close to great shopping, eating and entertainment. Its let down by a tired building, thankfully the staff made up for this. On the whole its very good value for money despite the comments

I booked the Royal Albion Hotel and was happy with the price but found the location of the room a bit like going through a labrynth but when i got to the room i was happy enough with it. have stayed at the hotel before so we new it was a old hotel with squeaky floor boards but our room this time 401 was next to the air conditioning and the noise was constant all night good job we only stayed one night. the restaurant served an excellent buffet breakfast. overall i would stay again as the position in brighton is excellent.

The hotel itself is very old and tired. it is kept quite clean but is in bad need of an update to its decor. the staff were polite and we were given a room with a great view overlooking the sea. The tea/coffee was nasty and the dining room looked and felt like a hostel. the chairs and tables were dodgy and made of plastic, very bad taste indeed and again, little/no effort there. the hotel is very cheap, and a great location, but annoyingly the hotel check out time is 10am which is really daft, and breakfast only served till 10am as well. i agree with other reviewers. This hotel is tired and dated and the customer service was quite poor. The location is excellent, right in the town centre with everything you need in walking distance. The main rooms are fine but the bedrooms were very basic and not very clean. The rooms were hot and not a 3* standard. Firstly, the hotel has a fantastic position right across from Brighton Pier. My Room was up in the gods, but was spotlessly clean, the rooms could do with a bit of a make over, but for what I paid was adequate. The weekend we were there the rates were very high - and for this the first room they offered had no window....The replacement room was OK, though certailnly a little spartan compared with others at such a price. The choice was made on the basis of the proximity of the pier. Room was dirty, hair in the sink, bath tub hadn't been cleaned properly. Windows could not be opened and where very dirty, including more bird crap that it wasn't possible to have a nice view to the pier. Room was basic,clean and functioning but badly needs a revamp as room was stuffy and very clamy even with window fully open. No AC .A sleep in was not an option due to road traffic...Breakfast was poor to average. Having said that I got a v cheap rate so was not expecting anything major....

The hotel is right on the seafront and really convenient for all the Brighton sights. Parking is not great outside the hotel, but there are residential streets near which you can park in. The quality and comfort of the hotel are fine, although it could do with a little cosmetic spruce up to bring it into the 21st century. The welcome at reception was not warm and the service at breakfast made you feel a little like you were on a conveyor belt. No sooner had you put your last mouthful of food in your mouth than your plate was whisked away from underneath your nose. It did feel quite rushed. I stayed in the hotel for 2 night , when booking I went for the Delux Room , with jacuzi bath and view , the room I was given had the bath but the view was of the service duct in the centre of the hotel . What you pay for is what you get. Hotel is fine, maybe needs a refurb but its clean. We were given a basement room - no natural light, and the bathroom was a bit musty, however i cant fault cleanliness. Really disappointed with the first room offered. It was supposed to be a superior room, room was musty, decor manky and windows could not be opened. Lovely customer service. However room that I was allocated, was a bit worn and needed a bit of attention. The floorboards in the bathroom were bowing up, which meant it was difficult to close the door at times. The lock on the bathroom door was also missing a few screws, so was tricky to lock. The best thing about this hotel was the highly entertaining and polyglot bar man. Everything else was of a pretty low standard, my room was underground and the signs did not point to it! The first thing I noticed when I entered my room was that the chair next to the bed had a completly tattered velvet upholstery that only covered the outside of the seat. We arrived after booking with Hotels.com to find somebody booking in and only payingmuch less than I had. I thought I had done well paying what I had online. I asked the Guy at reception and he said that they often put the prices low on the day. So my advice to you all would be to take the risk and book when you get there! There was a french window which opened to a small balcony, which you couldn't really sit on, however repairs were being done so we couldn't step out on it! The TV was very antiquated and the remote control didn't work! It was very hot at night but we couldn't open the window due to the noise outside the hotel by a group of people so we tried to put the air con on at 3am to find it didn't work! In the morning we discovered the shower didn't work either and I phoned a woman on reception who was very kind and said that we could have another room which I declined as we were both not dressed and my daughter had shampoo in her hair! We didn't bother staying for breakfast as I had a 10 min trek to the carpark. For the price I paid I did expect a better room. I will not go back there again but everybody else appeared to enjoy their stay. The entrance of the hotel was beautiful so I was sadly disappointed with the room. after a wonderful day in brighton at a friends wedding and as locals, all we wanted was a comfortable, clean double room with basic facilities and as it was a saturday night we knew we had to pay quite a high premium...what we got was a room with basic facilities alright, there wasnt even a window to look out of, in fact the room was right at the back […] of hotel, very dark and more like a cell and quite clostrophobic...the bath plug was stuck in the plug hole and therefore a shower turned into be a paddling pool plus the water was seeping from under the bath all over the floor ... we had a reasonable breakfast on a dirty table as it was busy and staff only started cleaning it wen prompted to do so...very poor and hotel is dated, not up to 2011 standards.. we will not be recommending this hotel.. THe room we were allocated was disgusting. Freezing cold, damp, curtains didn't close all the way and half of the wallpaper was missing from one wall. After complaining to duty manager we were moved to a better room. Double bed mattress slightly on the hard side. Clean room. 4th floor and 5th floor much quieter than other floors. We had a confirmed booking for a twin bedded room but were only given a double room with a put u up bed which had a horrible mattress. The second put u up bed had a much better, foam mattress. A re-visit for my Mother after many years was a total shock. Our room 211 Where to begin! Bedroom.Dirty ill-fitting carpet, peeling wallpaper, cheap mattresses with holey old sheets,and no mattress protector. We had 2 arm chairs plus a large blue vinyl seat leaving no room for a table which would have been welcome. Very dirty windows. In all, the room […] was very depressing. Bathroom I pulled an unpleasant wad of long black hair from the bath plug-hole and cleaned dry fecal matter from under the lavatory seat. Otherwise the bath and basin appeared clean, but the general bathroom appearance was shoddy. The spy glass from our bedroom door was missing, just an open hole through the door. Breakfast. Hard canteen type chairs and bare tables,cheapest tinned fruit etc!! All very unpleasant and sad. Thermos jugs of tea and coffee completed this dreary meal. Would not ever recommend or visit again. Location of hotel is very convient, Staff very friendly rooms very clean decor needs a little brightening up.Over all I would stay there again.

The room was over priced and was un clean. Carpet was thread bare, fixtures & fittings covered in thick dust & curtains were hanging loose. The bathroom toilet cistern was cracked, shower head was black with mould & the bathroom just smelt quite bad. We had no choice but to stay as the hotel was full. The hotel was suitable for our purpose of a quick holiday in Brighton. The room was large, and the beds were comfortable. The location is great if you want to enjoy the Pier. 10min walk from Railway station so easy to get there. The check in process for the Royal Albion was absurd. We arrived at 8am and were told we had to come back at 3pm (fair enough). When we got back at 3pm there was a huge queue and it took 45 minutes before we got to the front of it, because there were two very slow people manning reception. We overheard a customer complain that his no-smoking family […] room, stank of cigarette smoke and was missing beds. The receptionists response was 'And this is my fault because...?' The hotel was fantastic! For the price, the breakfast included was delicious and plentiful. The room was clean and the hotel staff were helpful. The location of this hotel was the major drawcard. It looked close to everything on the map, but it wasn't until we got there that we realised that so many of the highlights of Brighton were so accessible, […] and were really right there on the doorstep. For a budget stay, we couldn't ask for anything more, and if you only have a limited amount of time and limited budget to spend in Brighton, you should totally stay here! Have now stayed here twice , both times at weekend and because only hotel on main seafront still awailable , both times have been given basement rooms , i stay here because i want to be near the action and pubs , shops and sea however from thur/sat nt the noise will not stop outside until 6ish in the morning , only stay here if your going out all nt […] and when you do get in you will be a heavy sleeper , like i said youu get what you pay for , if your looking for a romantic weekend in brighton - not the hotel for you Leer más

A big, old and unwieldy hotel not untypical of the Britannia chain. A dowdy feel to it but more than adequately compensated for by superb location, perfectly comfortable rooms and a fair price. When the hotel is full breakfast can be a bit of a challenge and during my stay there seemed to be a lot of malfunctioning (ie the lift and the hot water) but […] I'd rate the staff highly for their ability to cope and be nice to the guests. When we arrived at the Albion I found the check in was very prompt and effecient. There was 8 of us in total over from Ireland for a 3 night stay for my boyfriends birthday and although I asked for a complimentary bottle of wine in the room we were refused which I thought was a bit disappointing. I was lucky that my boyfriend went down in the morning to bring up the breakfast to me and it was bliss to lie on and enjoy watching TV. The hotel is clean, lift very slow, we were on the third floor and found it quicker to use the stairs. This hotel is in a prime location with great views of the sea and pier. It could not be more central.... and as such parking can be a bit of a problem. We got a ticket even though we parked legally at a metered location nearby. Our room was fabulous .. large, newly refitted and with a sea view from the bay window. Booked at the last minute for an overnight bussiness stop over. The location of the hotel is very good being directly opposite the pier, there is no parking but I parked nearby on the seafront which was free between 6pm and 9am. The hotel itself has character but would benefit from a spruce up in general. If it was not for the fact that I did not check in until after 11pm I would probably have asked to change it. Overall though I could not reallly complain given the excellent value room price which included a nice breakfast.
